WARNING: PICTURE HEAVY! OK - so here is the story of the flock...
Louie - DOH 2/14/2001. Went to a local breeder on 3-16-2001 and this little guy jumped right on my finger. That was the best $35.00 ever spent! Started talking 2 months later and has turned out to be the friendliest, most easy-going budgie you will ever meet. Kind of a homely little guy, wasn't he......
Clarice was adopted on 10/13/2003 as a companion to Louie. She was approximately 9 months old and had 2 infertile clutches with Louie because he did not know what to do with her. Reuben was adopted on 7/8/2005. He was found in a driveway and made his way into our home via 911 Parrot Alert (no one responded to the lost add but us). His history is unknown but he was young, probably 6 months old. He appears to be part English Budgie, larger than normal with a bigger necklace.
Reuben, Clarice & Louie checking each other out...
It did not take long for Clarice & Reuben to discover one another...
2 months later they started their first clutch. This is Goldie (first born male) at 2 weeks (with a clutchmate in the background)...
Goldie at 4 weeks with 2 grey clutchmates...
Louie congratulating Reuben on the new babies...
Reuben and Clarice had 7 clutches of babies over 2-1/2 years
2nd clutch...
Max I and Max II (Anti-Max) are in this clutch here somewhere...
And Dave and Jerry are in this clutch...
We kept 5 babies: Goldie, Dave (grey), Jerry (blue), Max I and Max II (the Max's are identical except one has white tail feathers and the other dark blue tail feathers). We sadly let the rest go to good homes. Just too many babies...
To keep balance in the flock, we adopted Polly and Esther a year ago...
And added Al and June a few months ago (pictured are Al, Max, June & Goldie)...
Reuben and Dave...
Max and Louie sharing a joke...
So we currently have 12 Budgies and Sami the IRN (who coincidently was given to us in trade for a few babies on 10/2006).
I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT LIFE IS WITHOUT PARROTS
