Default All about Budgies - starter kit

Hi everyone. We are trying something new here on Parrotchatter & in the Budgie forum. Look at the top of the Budgie page & see the Subsection: All about Budgies.
This is a section that is to be all about our Parrotchatter Budgies. We will use them as examples for others to learn about owning Budgies.

Warning ~I've been thinking about this a lot but it is bound to have some hiccups. I'm not even sure how the subsection will work, until I start.

Normally we talk about our birds a lot & we use the Sticky Thread: Budgie Photos. IN both areas we can talk casually about our birds & seek advice about their 'type' & their 'problems'.
So don't stop using the regular threads to tell us stuff about your latest.

In this new subsection we will introduce our Budgies the best we can. Describe them physically & tell their story. The stories will be added to by describing milestones, as education.

sex
age
type {Exhibit/Show/English , Standard/American, mix}
mutation
Photo or 4
Story in roughly 200 words
- about the life of your bird to date. Anything you think helps a newbie understand what it would be like to get your bird - might be a way to start. Mention things that you learned or found exciting about this bird. If you have many birds - talk about them together or separately.

Mutation References: Check this link out to clarify which type you have ~ Budgie / Parakeet Colors Mutations and Varieties

Attention - For ALL About Budgies Threads - I would like to avoid comment in the threads themselves.
Instead if you have a question, start a 'regular' thread yourself {outside the All About Budgies Subsection} & start a discussion.
As I said this is a trial. Hope it goes well & no one finds any way to get upset.

This is to be educational & fun too. I'll start with Laker as a kind of template.
Ask any questions & give suggestions here. ... please

I made the first thread! An older Standard Budgie - from a shelter

The title can be anything you see as important about your bird.

With Laker - I thought one of the most important factors is that he was a shelter Budgie.

With Rio - he comes from a small home breeder & has always been flighted. I have to think about it for a bit.

Comments: Angie made a comment on the 1st thread.
This is always going to happen. It is OK as long as they support what is being said. If you agree or disagree.

I only ask you keep any real issues or large input, to other mainstream threads - then the individual can edit their post in response. Just don't feel you have to say hi or Ahhhhh, like we normally do. If this happens I may ask these comments to be taken out eventually.

Please feel comfortable to comment here about the 'rules'.

Looks great! I like how descriptive your title is in Laker's thread - if someone new is coming here looking for advice or experiences in getting an older budgie from a shelter, or wherever, Laker's thread would be very appealing.

I'll make posts about my boys soon - busy day today and tomorrow at work so it may take me a few days.

I expect these threads will be slow to start. This is serious stuff - educational hopefully.

I was going to turn the computer off last evening but decided to tackle these threads ~ finally was quite. Time just raced by. I logged off around 1am or later - I can't do that every night!

Already we are getting replies - people can't resist! Maybe we will thin some out at the end of the month [maybe bag the replies at the end of the thread?? - don't know if that's possible??] or find another solution to them.

I think one thing is good about the replies so far is that you can discuss the specific qualities of that individual bird.
