Any idea why my signature photos (of the birds and dogs) aren't showing up? All I'm getting is an incomplete url link where my sig pix were. Since we host our own graphics servers, I had Z check, and it's not a problem from our end.

Edit: Your forum seems to be censoring the word b i r d b o ard (minus the spaces), which is the name of the folder where these photos are stored on my server. Why censor this word? I'm not going to go into that folder on my server and switch and upload everything to a new folder/section just to get past this censor. Can you please fix this so that my signature photo will show? Seems silly and immature, as well as irritating, to censor a word with no negative connotations in most of society.

I just tried that and was shocked to find it true. Considering that even "management" can still be found posting and lurking there, this is a somewhat rather frightening development and I am curious as to how it will be dealt with.

Actually we added several hundred censored words. (Most of them are words we would not want any young children reading) That particular word isn't being censored for the reasons eluded to above. It actually has to do with our search relevancy on the popular search engines. ParrotChatter is censored on other boards for that very reason. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Well crud, the world is coming to an end for sure, just tried that too and sure enough, other boards act just as ... silly when it comes to that.

I know for one that you are not allowed to use the "S" word but Crap is Ok, so I was just curious.

It is a chance to be creative....come up with novel euphemisms -- remember how much fun it was to say firetruck in the third grade and feel like you really got away with something?

You can see the photos now because Z did a workaround--basically, created a new folder on our server for those 2 pictures, and uploaded those pix to that new folder.

I have no patience with censorware. All of the various censor applications are so filled with flaws it's incredible, but I can understand censoring cuss words and the like. What I think is really petty and sad is to censor words that are the name of your competitors. In my case, the FIRST bi rd b o a rd forum I joined went by that name (and this site didn't exist at that time), and when Z created a folder to put graphics specifically for bird forums in, he chose that name. I'm not about to move literally hundreds of graphics (read upload them using Filezilla) from the b ir db o a rd folder to a brand new one simply because one forum doesn't want to see the name of another board on their site. Silly, imho. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but I've never had much patience with that kind of stuff. I wonder if Coca-Cola's websites censor the word, "Pepsi" and vice versa?

OK, rant over. I'm back to enjoying the rest of this site, but I must admit that I'm disappointed and somewhat disillusioned with this particular decision. I understand why the decision was made, as it's been explained, and I suppose being at the top of search engines is important, but it still seems like a "small" thing for such an otherwise great forum to decide to do.
