Default rescue section

I would love to see a rescue section on here somewhere. Today many more people are turning to rescue since there are so many unwanted birds and that number is just growing.I think it would be great to have a section to help educate people of the problems we are facing today, and share stories of our rescues.
many do not realize the problems we are facing and how these poor innocent creatures are being treated.

i think that is a wonderful idea! there are so many animals in shelters that need homes. i think it's a very important option to consider before buying.

There's a little RESCUE in all of us.
You can find Behavior & Training topics located in the Behavior/Learning forum.... , no disrespect intended Joshua, my dear friend.
Rescue isn't for everyone, (my world) is a bloody nightmare, the few are able to be returned unto mother.
What I have found on other sites is controversy when it comes to rescue, who is and who isn't a rescue person?
Have any of you folks noticed something about ParrotChatter that stands out from almost every other bird forum?
Just about every avian forum has one of these....you won't find it here on PC.
The owner/admin/moderators have learned from other sites that this (forum) simply isn't needed and has no benifits to the main objective (to help birds and there owners).
I mean no disrespect twords Barbra, only the Lord knows how much I love and care for her, with that said...I would vote no to a rescue forum and the controvercy that will come with such a forum, although a rescue forum can help others help animals, this can already be done by contributing your rescues under each species forum.
If you notice, in the Dove & Pigeon Forum I have started a thread (my rescue world), I also rescue wildlife, so in that forum I have provided information and links to help others help wildlife, when I have a rescue, I post that little one in there forum such as the 2 little Keets that came my way, and just now I made an error, these two little Keets were not rescued, they were relinquished unto my care, hopefully you can see and understand what I am saying.
When I go out the door to help a either injured or lost Dove or Pigeon....that is a Rescue...if someone brings a little one to me that is no longer wanted, weather that bird is in good health or not....thats a relinquish...not a rescue...
Now maybe you can see the controversy that seems to come with RESCUE....
Has anyone figured out what PC doesn't have that many...many other avian forums have and is of no benefit to birds and there owners or other members of that forum?

Barb, thank you for the suggestion, and please know that we have discussed the possibility of creating a separate rescue forum, more than once, in fact. Arty has done a good job of summing up the reasoning behind the decision to continue as is. Please do continue to post your rescue experiences in the appropriate species specific forums, and thank you for the vital work you perform!

Why Thank you Nate, I done my best to get my point accross without offending anyone.
I litterally had tears in my eyes when seeing Barbra had joined us here on ParrotChatter, "she is one tuff cookie" and will place herself right between those that will harm any animal, IMO this deserves the upmost respect and by all means this woman shines within my heart for all she does for animals.
We have Breeders here and Rescue people, this alone comes with friction as we both reside on seperate sides of the fence...
I simply feel it would be best not to venture into the area of Rescue, its a very rewarding world with much much Saddness...
Take Care my friend!
Arty

Chance, I just notice this forum and it's very underused.

The New Roost
Discuss sharing your home with re-homed and rescued parrots.

That's a good spot imo, in addition to the species specific forums depending on what you feel like. Even though your "home" may not be a traditional home or a permanent home for the adoptables.

OK well I'm never one to back down from controversy lol, and I think if we follow the rules then that would solve alot. I for one would never attack most breeders verbally because the "problem" has not so much to do with the individuals. Same with a few good pet stores.

HOWEVER, I DO think that managing a forum for "rescue" would require more resources than ParrotChatter has at the moment.

Example, putting the forum on Moderate until it plays out, having a subset of rules that build in protection for everyone, and MOST important trying to keep scammers and phishers OFF the forum soliciting money or animal trades and causing a huge mess. Not to mention Flippers and hoarders. AND putting members at risk for scams out of the goodness of their hearts but not realizing they got ripped off when it's too late.

So for that reason I'd agree that at the MOMENT it would be too tough to manage. But I think that it's totally noble and should be a part of any socially responsible board as the site matures.

Sadly not all individuals/groups are as pure and trustworthy as Second Chance Rescue.

This same logic applies to the Breeding forum btw, just that it never took off so much as in the worst case scenarios I talked about but the potential is there for the same things to happen on that forum. So the protection ineeded is for both demographics.
