Yeah actually I am getting a bit sick of budgies now.

Just kidding! I agree though, although I had heard of, and seen HHs before, I know nothing about them, so it would be really interesting to hear more about them etc. And again I will repeat Jac in saying:

I know that sound well, they hiss like a snake and can strike as fast.

They have got to be the most interesting birds I've seen in a long while. I love the beautiful headdresses, and they look like a lively pair. Do they get along well with other birds, or best kept separate? I'd love to get one, but I'd have to have it inside, and I don't think my partner would appreciate being kicked out of bed and replaced with a bird, even one so pretty as those .

We let them out with the other birds only when we are actually in the room to watch. They go wild when they are excited and when they are excited they are fearless. They raise their head dresses, shake their heads back and forth, and hiss. The macaws leave them alone though, smart macaws!

Shemya and Attu are BEAUTIFUL! I love the red feathers tipped in blue -- it's really quite stunning

What are the stories behind their names? I could just Google them, I know but I'd like to hear why you chose them

Thanks, Eliza, they are very interesting to watch together. They are both named after two of the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska. Gary and I were married on one of them, Adak. Our Newfoundland who passed this year was named Kada which is Adak spelled in backward.

Amazing birds! I saw one once at the Adventures in Birds store here in Houston. We lived in Anchorage for 2 years. How in the world did you all wind up getting married there? It is so beautiful there. I used to drive along and just think I was the luckiest human to live there and see the beauty every day.
