would Love a play date!!!!!!!!!!

Eve always tries to feed me, and the cats, and anything else that moves. You would have seen the "appendage" Especially at that age. Eve's made it's appearance at 3 years old, but only slightly as in when defecating....it would stay our for a minute or two. By 5 the darn thing is out almost 24/7. And now a 8, not only does it stay out, it opens up and becomes the size of his head.

Stella wanting to be fed makes a lot of sense, in the wild females during breeding season do not feed themselves, and will only eat when they are fed, not even if food is in reach. Just as Eve, a male, has to feed everything in sight, being male his job is to deliver ALL the food necessary to sustain the all females and their chicks.

Hey Vasa People! Stella is gorgeous! Must be neat when she looses her head feathers.
Does she sing alot (if she does, does she only sing during breeding time)?

I know my Lesser sings... you said you had a male Lesser that sang alot... wonder if the songs are similar between male and female Lessers? Here is Keely singing: YouTube - lesser vasa song She usually sings like that when she wants something (hence my Grey in the back ground asking her if she "want's her apple" . She had an even louder and more redundant song when (I assume) she was trying to attract a mate, as she also did a sort of "dance" too.

She also seems to want to be fed, as when she "teethes" her favorite toy (she does not really gnaw or chew) sometimes she will kind of pump on it. Not as strong as say a baby bird would pump... but just a little. Wonder if wanting to be fed has anything to do with it...

And she also seems very "touchy" like you say Stella is. She touches everything with her tongue and beak, sometimes taking something in her foot and turning it to touch every part.

(sorry if I hijacked this post to talk about Lessers..its just cool to maybe have someone to compare to and learn more from...)

Talking Re: Stella

Thanks.... You didn't say what your name is, so I can't say "Hi ____"... sorry...

First time she lost her head feathers, I FREAKED OUT !! I was like WHAT?? I was told she was a DNA male (the breeder only sold males, always held back hens for breeding... ). So I called my friend who gave her to me and he said "Males lose head feathers as well.... ". I said I didn't think THIS MUCH !! I have to see if I have her picture from them...

So, I was led to believe SHE was a HE....

Then she lose MORE.. And I thought.. hmmm something is wrong here... A friend told me the other day since she believes Stella is a male she will pay for the blood sexing... I said Fine, doesn't matter to me either way..

Hey, we have a MALE Eve here.. Why not a MALE Stella... LOL.

I will watch the video later, I can't now.. I think it will make me cry hearing Keely sing. I miss Sly's song so much.. and Stella doesn't sing much, a little, but NOTHING compared to Sly.

SCREAM-- she does that well.

It is interesting that Kelly is also tachtile. I was explaining it to our vet the other day when she started to lick things, pick up and tongue things.. quite funny.

I am trying to put Stella on my.. what is it? avatar? But I can't.. can the moderators do that? I seem to NOT be good at pictures

Nice to see you and Keely here... We can start another "topic" called Keely and you can tell us more...

Where are you located? We are on Long Island soon ( not soon enough) going to be in Upstate NY so Eve can meet Stella and have play and flying dates...

Hi Kimba! Hi Doreen!

I am from Canada.

I guess I'll reply to the other post you made on Keely.

(Ps, I am sorry Doreen for asking about the singing and putting the video... hope it was not too insensitive... oops)

Sam.

hi Sam and welcome. NOT it was not insensitive- you would have no way of knowing. I look forward to hearing the song.. It has been long missed here. One of the favorite moments in my day was hearing his call.

He did it when he wanted something- more food, his light out, whatever.. but we knew he wouldn't stop till we went in (who had WHO trained.. LOL).

Look forward to more pictures and stories. As I said, Sly was white when we adopted him and naked soon after, so I have never seen in person a "normal" one... Hey, you never know, maybe I will get to Canada someday.. LOL. where are you?

(doreen looking a map... LOL)
