Brotogeris 4 adoption
A member of my Broto forum has decided to put her Orange chin up for adoption, he is beyond adorable...He is sweet as pie ..Tuki is located in AZ
A bit from her e-mail :
I have thought this over very carefully and I really think this is best for Tuki. Here he isn't getting the attention he needs and deserves. He has
great potential, and is a very sweet bird with enough one on one attention. He was coming along fine for me with the Clicker Training, then we
got Sunny. I tried to get them to be friends but one time when Sunny was trying to be a friend to Tuki, Tuki hacked at her eye. Fortunately she is OK.
But I can't have them out together again.
He was 2 years old last May. I am asking $250.00, but I am more interested in getting him a good home than getting my asking price.
He is healthy and eats very well! Loves his bath on top of his cage.
If someone buys him that can pick him up his cage and his favorite cage accessories will go with the deal for $50 more. If not and a new owner would want him shipped, I have the shipping crate I got him in from Gloria. I have all his paperwork too. The new owner would have to pay for shipping.
I would prefer Tuki be picked up here at my home and not shipped, but that is only my preference.

If you know anything about broto's then you know this guy will go fast they are rare...other members of this family include grey cheeks.white-wings,golden-wings,orange chins, etc
Just thought I'd pass the opportunity on

Re: Brotogeris 4 adoption
Hope he gets a quality home.
The original 'pocket parrot'. I read a lot about them but no one has any in my area - they were on my short list until i got into Budgies. They used to be the most popular parrot going in the 70's but once other parrots became available they fell out of fashion. I read about a breeding program that started up in the states to bring them back.
He looks really interesting. Hope we hear about his new home - maybe get another member here so we can hear even more.

Re: Brotogeris 4 adoption
Hi,
I have lived in Honolulu for many yrs. but am moving to Parker,Az in Sept or Oct to finish my RN school. I've inherited a place there. In Hawaii many types of birds are not allowed: parrolets & Brotogeris to name 2. I've always adored my sm. Lovebirds.
The only parrot I have now is an 11 y.o. male Senegal. I've had up to 5 more small birds (parrokeets, cockatiel, lovebirds) but they've all passed away over recent yrs.
I want to get either a Broto or a parrolett. They sound quite similar. Can you point out some differences? ie: personalities, etc.
Tuki sounds adorable. Can you tell me more about him? At my place in Az it has a screened in "Calif" room which I think the birds will enjoy when it's not too hot.
I had a tradgedy occur last month. I was in a hurry & left my Senegal's cage open & he climbed into my lovebird's cage & killed him. Very sad. I RARELY have left his door open & he usu. is just sitting in his cage if that happened. I knew he dislikes small birs (jeolous) but I never dreamed that would happen!
Now I realize that I must be vigilant regarding this & that all my birds must be very sturdy shut tight when I'm not w/in eyesight.
Many Thanks,
Jenna ("Limon")

Re: Brotogeris 4 adoption
Geez! The original owner got him, the little thing bonded with her and all was well until she got a new bird. A new bird that (DUH! of course!) the old bird would not like because it's nothing but competition for his human's love. And now because he doesn't like the new bird, out he goes!
And Jenna, maybe you should consider not taking in another small bird. Sennies are extremely possessive of their owners -especially males who happen to be very aggressive birds and the older they get, the more aggressive they become.

Re: Brotogeris 4 adoption
Did you ever find Tuki a new home? I'm in Parker Az now. I met 2 brotos the other day & I'd really like to get one, esp. a boy. I'm much more set up for birds now.

Did you ever find a home for Tuki?

Re: Brotogeris 4 adoption
I hope tuki gets a good home too, and I think that your asking price for adoption is a better deal with the cage accessories than without. I'm based in SoCal otherwise I would be interested.

Although a delightful thread - this was posted in 2007. Best to check that out unless you want to ask a question - revisiting a thread is a great idea for us all.
