An anagram (< Greek anagrammenos 'written anew', passive participle of ana- 'again' + grapho 'write') is a type of word play, the result of rearranging the letters of a word or phrase to produce other words (with more or less the same meaning), using all the original letters exactly once; e.g., Silver-haired congenial scum = Louise is clever and charming, or Abnormal intellect = Malcontent liberal. Someone who creates anagrams is called an anagrammist.
