Finally got the boys on the scale this morning. They weigh a lot less than my dad and I thought they would! I'm not even going to tell you our guesses because we were so wrong it's embarrassing! Mollie is similar in build to Ollie, and Mira is a lot bigger. But the pigeons are light!

Mollie- 350 grams
Mira- 400 grams

For comparison, Ollie weighs 440.

The weights on the boys are sort of estimates- the scale was jumping up and down about 20 grams.

If i'm not mistaken, the Pigeons bone structures are different. They just look bigger.

The average feral pigeon weight is 320 grams....
Soooo, your boys are BIG BOYS....

Actually the bone mass is larger, its the body mass that is deceiving, muscle weighs more that fat....same as within us humans....

That makes me proud! Do you know what the average Dunn Lahore weight is? I'd like to get an idea of what Mira would be if she weren't half feral.

I have no idea what the Lahore standards are, these birds are not easily found around here, I did find a breeder, 200 miles away in the Dakotas...
will have to do some checking...

Soooooo, I am cunsulting a breeder of these wonderful birds in the UK right now, hopefully I will have a target weight for ya real soon...

Well this breeder in the UK has been telling me this and that.
I have stated very clearly that I already know of everything he has said, but just want to know how much the Dunn Lahore should weigh.
I did find out one kinda interesting aspect of the Dunn, in the UK, the Dunns are 20% larger, here in the USA it is said the birds have been crossed so many times, there true size has shrank....Okay...the Lahore is mainly from Pakistan...Hmmmmm he is in the UK...what to believe...what to believe.....
Maybe I should try and get one of his birds into the states???

The wife said our digital scale won't go up that high, so I am not going to bother tring to weigh my girl...I think I will look up the breeder in the Dakotas again....
