Hi.

Baby Senegal dove has fledged and is feeding himself. I have decided to make him a pet; as I love him; and the wildlings his age outside are not doing well (and neither was he).

He/she is making an adorable little soft thing to keep on my shoulder. It accepts the bird diaper; so can be free to fly in the house during the day.

New pictures are here:

Hi.

One month later, here is a new photo of my rescued Senegal dove.

It is the sweetest little bird, very tame and loves to be petted (unlike a pigeon).

It is wearing an "Uncle Sam' bird diaper in the picture. It is extremely smart, too. It knows when bedtime is. It lets me put on the diaper with minimum fuss, like it knows that is how it gets to be outside the cage.

It is precious.

That looks like one content bird - very cute flight suit or bird diaper.

How many bird pets do you have & are there other pet doves?

I have other doves; but this is the only tame one. I still have the one with the mangled leg in the aviary with the budgies. I have to take a picture of him.

I have three others in other parts of the bird complex (because they fight if more are kept together than a true pair).

Here are some new shots of my wonderful pet Senegal dove. It is so smart. In the morning, after breakfast, it goes directly to the top of the computer until late afternoon, when it goes into the kitchen to sit on top of the fridge and sneak food from around the other cages. Then it comes back to the computer at about 9PM and sits until bedtime at about 10:30PM. If I forget bedtime, I find a dove on my hand or head.

She looks very satisfied with herself to be on top of the computer like that! Thanks for the photos.
