Arty, I promise, you have my word! I check several times a day to be sure no babies fall out. There was only 1 broken egg on the but I guess the other might still be in the nest.

You have my word, I will!

I have to tell you I saw another pigeon/dove on my porch roof today. I didnt get a pic though. It landed right in front of me and I was dumbfounded. It was gorgeous. So brown it was almost orange, with a cream towards the tail. any ideas? Ive never seen it before. It was almost dusk and I saw it again on the neighbors gable. I hope it stays around.

There are so many different color mutations within the Pigeon world.
Hard to say just what mutation your new visitor is.
I will do some digging in my files and see what I can come up with to help you.

I have so much information concerning color mutations and genes, way to much to post.
Here's a good site to visit and learn more about Pigeons and there genetics.

Arty, Im only seeing 1 baby in the nest. Its 7 ft off the ground so I cant look down into it. But you were right. Lady, I named momma, walked right past my feet this morning while I was feeding the fish. She went to the spot where I throw the left over fid mix. Anyway, that was my chance to go to the arbor, so it was clear that only 1 was peeking down at me. I checked the ground and the flower bed for any stray babies and there were none.

Thank you for feeding the outside birds, this means so very much to me and them, you make it possible for them to breed and survive as they will not re-produce without a food and water soarce.
This mated pair might have lost an egg somewhere, I remember your first post concerning there nest, and the little one pictured sure showed up fast, this tells me they built there nest very fast and the hen more than likely laid the very same day...
One egg is unusual, all the more special..
At 2 weeks old the parents both feel safe with leaving there young alone while they search for food and water, I knew that time was close.
Another little bird of peace comes into the world for all of us to enjoy.
Thank you for sharing the photos with us here in the Dove & Pigeon forum.
Peace
Arty

Im not seeing the same bird in any of these shots. It was a butterscotch color. No long or fluffy feathers. It was simply breath taking. Havent seen it yet today, but you bet Im looking!
