Pigeons & PMV
Inquire of the Breeder if the birds have been vaccinated.
If the 2 you decide to buy have been vaccinated, following of the Quarantine Procedure, also being careful when taking your birds around someone else’s birds, I would be concerned with the Virus but no more than any other strains as there are a variety of viruses effecting exotics.
Buying healthy birds from a reliable Breeder, Follow 30 day Quarantine Procedure will assure your Aviaries are virus free.
From 1992 until 1996, 635 APMV-1 virus isolates were submitted from almost all regions. Of these viruses, 371 were isolated from chickens, 39 from other poultry, 171 from pigeons and 54 from exotic birds.
I have Doves & Exotics together, never had a problem as of yet.
Here’s some reading material concerning this virus and a few other diseases that effect both exotic & pigeons.
