Oh gosh, I hope this doesn't lead to a knee-jerk reaction of killing pigeons that roost on bridges.

I'm sure it will as everything else does.
I don't believe it. I think the poop would help kinda glue the bridge together...hehe

Default Pigeons blamed for Bridge Collapse!

Now I have seen it all! Anyone who has Aol.....look at the top story on your Welcome Screen...they are looking into the pigeon poop as a blame for the Minnesota Bridge collapse. What do you think about this Arty? I think it is terrible for blaming the poor pigeons. If someone could link the story in here please do. I do not know how.

If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the article, there is an open post available. I cannot believe how many people are saying to shoot the pigeons!

Default Oh Noez Pidgeon lovers!

http://news.aol.com/story/_a/experts...00010000000001

I'm not too sure honestly what to make of that news story, I know sometimes bird poop buildup can be acidic. But they should do what the Canadians do and employ Pidgeon Poppers. I agree they're a little cruel but putting a bumpy or spiked surface on a tall window sill so they can't land there is a good deterent. Maybe they can take that idea and find a cost effective way to incorperate it without hurting the pidgeons. I'm not saying the 4 inch spikes I saw up on the chateau du frontinac were entirely kind to the birds...but I certainly saw no damage caused by birds anywhere on the building as the result of them.

It's a sharp thread thick long needle embedded into what ever they don't want the pidgons landing on. The birds won't land on the spikes, its about 4 inches long, at least the ones I saw were.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that I merged Joanie and Tinna's threads since they are discussing the same topic.
