Thanks for the pictures, no Canker in the mouth cavity, Canker is a yellowish cheesy in appearance looking growth and also associated with POX, so we are good to go there...
I see mild flaking on the legs and feet...again....this appears okay..
Some pigeons do have growth around there eye's just as one will see in chickens, again the pox virus will appear yellowish in color.
The growth around your little rescue appear redish and this could be the difference in breeds I speak of.
I would feel real bad if I hadn't said anything, I am not a vet, the growth around the eyes simply stood out, I pray I am wrong....the coloration is what throws me off.
Best to wash your hands well and don't allow your other birds to use the outdoor aviary until you hear from the vet..
Arty

Beautiful bird! I hope that everything goes well at the vet's appointment.

Hi Arty you might remember me from another bird forum, i've been lurking and reading posts here for months. Can parrots get the pox virus or do only pigeons have that?

Hi Deb, you joined PC around the same time I did, stop lurking and post, we don't bite...
Yes the Pox virus effects exotics, depending on the strain.
USGS National Wildlife Health Center - Avian Pox
There is different strains of the Pox Virus.

OOps and I forgot, no need to raise the food or water up closer, the bird will need to fly around anyways...
They are tossers so expect a mess...

Wow! I am glad I looked at my scheduler... my appointment is today at 3:30pm. Whew! That would have been bad if I had missed my appointment as it takes over a week to get anything these days (unless you want to pay an emergency fee and leave your birds there).

So, Homer Pigeon will be seen today at 3:30pm. Hopefully all goes well. He hasn't moved all morning and is just sitting in the entrance of the carrier checking out the yard. He is not so friendly today and kinda growls at me if I reach near him. Maybe he didn't like the opening of the mouth and the photo shoot

Pigeons are seed eaters, the only difference is these birds is they eat the whole seed then search for sand or small gravel to assist with the digestion, so offering maybe parakeet grit will help, I offer my birds oyster shell grit this helps with the calcium issue, but you will not want to offer this if this bird has what I suspect.
Even a handful of plain sand will help.

Both a similar to Pox, wow I didn't see any canker in the mouth cavity, but then the picture was a little hazey...
What meds?
The lice can be cleared up by adding a tablespoon of borax to a gallon of water and bathe the bird well, this will take care of all the little creepies and brighten the birds feathers...
