Follow what I have said, place her in her cage, and watch her from afar...she can't know you are there....you will learn much...just like kids....human kids...
Be vigilent new momma.....from afar...be a sneaky mom....you will be surprized at what you learn...

I have removed the carpet, covered the bottom with newspapers, covered with a clean cotton towel and t-shirt for a bed. Please don't worry, I have read up on teflon/air fresheners etc....I guess the carpet seemed safe beceause I saw someone else do this and it is made for cats so I assumed the carpet itself wasn't treated with anything toxic...but better safe than sorry!
I will do that Arty, I think you might just be right. These poops today must be from seed since the last hand feeding....?

here's her cage now & how she is today. Now she has settled into a nap on the loveseat (her hang out).

I felt her crop area and it felt empty I guess, I don't really know what to look for.
I will put her in her cage and I will periodically peek in at what she is doing. I go to work at 10:30 today, I am thinking I will leave her here where it is quiet and see if she eats while I am gone, I shouldn't be gone more than 5 hours.
I will bathe her as soon as she is settled in, eating well and so on...I don't want to add anything else on top of all the other adjustments for her...and me!
I just want to be the perfect mom and I have to admit I am feeling a little unsuccesful here
I just love her.

Roxanne - What a great cage you have for her. The Kiwi photo was very sweet, as are the tiny yellow feathers sticking out on her head etc.

Arty - when I've fed any baby animal including the sparrow i gently nudge their mouths - I've seem parent animals lick or nuzzle the mouth to get their babies attention. If you copy the natural things the parents would do that reassures the baby. [ie: if you rub the top of the nose of calves or lambs they want to suck] With the sparrow i gently ran the spoon along the beak & presto it opened wide.
Would this help with a Pigeon? I'm surprised that hunger wouldn't have her being more co-operative. Hope she is eating on her own.

All the best - I look forward to more updates.

Much better, this will help you during cleaning, I know you meant well.
Now things appear like she was used to here, this will help her to adjust.
Birds use the air taken in at that time, we human and other mamals store oxygen to use later, any toxins will be deadly to Olive.
You are doing a great job Roxanne, a very vigilent mother, please don't ever worry about asking to many questions or needing help, all members here on PC will help if they can...
The anatomy within birds is basically the same.
I think I posted information concerning healthy Pigeon droppings here in the forum somewhere, The droppings should appear dark green, a little white, with a small amount of fluid...thats when she is eating nothing but seed.

Thank you for saying the cage is good, I have been hoping it's ok.
I did try "stimulating" her beak with the syringe tip, I even put a tiny drop of formula on the side of her beak so it would go into her mouth and she tasted it....and then back to the same routine of not letting me feed.
I will just lay low for a bit, pray she eats!

Thank you Arty, I am trying really hard here and feeling a little down on myself...I do appreciate yours and everyones help and support.
Her poop fits your description to a tee...so one must wonder if she is eating more than we think.
I am off to the shower. will update soon.
