I wanted to post this Tiny Art #538 - Bird of Hope
A friend of mine is the artist, this is one of her newer works, I thought it was kind of a neat coincidence.....

Is there an update on Hope?

Arty, I would take Hope if I knew for certain she was female. If I were to send you some money could you send some DNA in to have him/her sexed? I don't have room for any more pigeons if they won't get along, but won't a male and female always get along?

How wonderful you are for wanting this little one Camille. (Does dad know?)

Hope is doing fine, I want to give her a bath but Rose says its best to wait awhile, she is using both wings when she stretches.
Her wounds were very bad, but are healing well.
She is completely independant now, no more hand feeding, I am still giving her pain meds but plan on ending those soon.
I noticed she has a deformed talon, more than likely this happened at birth.
Her one wing still looks fairly bad, the feathers where pulled during her assult and don't appear in good shape, but this also should change over time.
A bath will really make her look and feel better...Soon.
She sure is pretty....
She is okay with me, but she isn't that tame, I don't want to hold her as much as I would like to, best to just let her be Hope.
She doesn't wing slap me, but she isn't my baby as all the others were and come running to me.
Compared to when I found her, I would say she is at 85%.
Her little wing worries me the most, time will tell.
I am still having problems with the picture issue, I even tried a different photo site and found the same problems there.
It has to be Vista and all the problems that come with this worthless program.
I simply don't enjoy my Putter anymore, to much of a hassle.

Well Camille, first we better see if she can fly.
I will ask Rose if she can take a sample for DNA, this will mean hurting her again....something I won't do myself, I should have thought of this issue when she was covered in blood....
If Hope is a female...then she will come to you, I will make sure this happens.

Another issue, your 2 boys will fight over her...if she is a she...deciding what boy gets the girl may be hard....
I would mate her up with Mollie, I don't wish to make you sad, but Mollie is getting up there in age, might be a good idea to breed Mollie so he can carry on (gene) wise.

Arty, perhaps I'm being ignorant, but why would Hope need to fly to live with me? Does it have to do with her living with another pigeon? Or needing the body heat because she'd be living outside? I'm just guessing...

I understand you not wanting to hurt her for the DNAing. If it bothers you too much it will not offend if if you'd rather find another home for Hope. I've been thinking about finding some females for my boys, but nothing was set in stone yet. But Hope needs a home and I have one. I feel horrible about not being able to take Hope if she's a male, but I simply don't have the housing for another rough-houser. Again, it won't offend me. Perhaps someone who can provide an indoor home for her will be found.

And yes Susan , I've asked my dad and although he rolled his eyes a bit he loves animals nearly as much as me and would never say no.

I would try to let them pair up as they wish. (Or maybe you have another female pigeon that isn't already paired up so that they could each have a friend! Wishful thinking I'm sure!) Although I would like Mollie to have the girlfriend. He's been alone for so long...there is still plenty of time for Mira!

Arty, I'll be traveling for the holidays starting early tomorrow morning and won't be back home until the 26th. My computer time will be very limited. Don't feel I've changed my mind if I dont respond!

Sooooo, Rose said she will look for our DNA strips, She will take a sample and we will see what sex Hope is for sure....
I have 10 Pigeons coming soon from Alabama, There simply has to be 2 females in there somewhere.....You just hang tight....I will make sure you get 2 girls...

I hope you understand, Hope isn't very tame, I didn't tame her as I done with Mira....she will never leave you...(if she is a she), but she won't be drawn to you as is Mira and Mollie...
One step at a time...but make no mistake...I will send you 2 girls....
I am worried that the 2 I send you might just take off, they are used to another loft, they might not home as do Mollie & Mira....Hope will....but the 2 from Alabama (if there are 2 girls) might not stay around if allowed to free fly.
One way or another...we will work things out...
