The hawk will stick around, if the feeding resorces are not good he/she will move on to better grounds.
I can't say for sure how long, I know they are thick here and hang around waiting for me to allow my birds to free fly.
I simply don't have comforting words Donna, I wish I did, this isn't good...at all.
Best to do your best to catch Abi, and pray Donna, do much praying....
The Hawk is there for a reason, weather he/she is waiting on the right moment to take Abi is unknown, lets hope not...

Prayers for you Donna... I have been watching this thread.... and can not tell you how bad I feel for you... I pray you can trap your Abi... and pray that Hawk finds better hunting grounds!

Ruby says "Go inside Abi!!!!" Those red-tails used to come around after my little chickens. No good can come of this! I pray you can catch Abi!

Thanx everyone for your concern too, I will do my best to try to get him tomorrow. I worry because it has been cool here in Northern Florida and Abi has changed his habits of where he roosts in the morning. He stays up in that tree to sun himself until the temps warm up around noon or so. I will be out there first thing in the morning to see if I see that big bad hawk! If I was not looking for Abi today I would have never spotted him....he blends right in with the tree!

It is 10:20am Abi just flew from the Canopy to that same branch the Hawk was on yesterday.

Abi will stay there until my boyfriend finishes yardwork. Abi is spooked by anyone in the yard but me. I am going to keep a close eye on Abi!
Keeping my fingers crossed that Hawk does not come back today!

I hope the hawk moves on quickly. A few years ago a hawk (red tail) swooped after Mollie while he was flying. Thankfully my dad was nearby and ran towards them shouting and waving a shovel. Now we watch very closely and don't let the pigeons out if we've seen any hawks within the past few days.
