I've been reading the thread about the crippled dove, and crying. This has been posted as a sticky in the Never Forgotten forum, but I wanted to post it again here, for you. In memory of all the little ones you try to help but sometimes have to let them go. Their stay with you may have been long or brief, but your love for them was the same, and was not in vain. Thank you for all you do.

I Will Lend You a Bird

"I'll lend you, for a little while, a bird of mine," He said.
"For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he is dead.

It may be six or seven years, or maybe twenty-three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay, as all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this bird to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you.

Now will you give him all your love - not think this labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call, to take him back again.

I fancied that I heard them say, 'Dear Lord, thy will be done.'
For all the joy this bird shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shower him with tenderness and love while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

And should the angels call for him much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand."

Thank you Nate

Everything I do is for them, matter not if they are with feathers and or fur.
Other than my Job, my entire world evolves around them and there needs.
I try my best not to inflict my frustrations unto others, I do my best to help when called upon, sometimes the tears are very overwhelming.
Then when a little one flys away, or hops away, or runs up the tree, and I feel there little eyes looking back at me, all those tears that have fallen, the bloodied hands, the nightmares seem to go away.
No matter how brief that momment maybe, it is that momment that keeps me going through the next day...
I walk with Barbra from Second Chance Bird Rescue, with John from Beaks & Wings Exotic Bird Rescue, and many other Rescue folks, I also share there Dreams and Nightmares.
I have a great deal of respect for animals, I fight for there rights...
Sometimes I know I am not that pleasant and easy to get along with, but its all for them...The Little Ones....there needs come before mine and I hope you understand this...before yours!
I pray everyone understands this...

Nate I am in tears right now,Thank you so very much I needed that right now.
There isn't anything I wouldn't do for these little ones.They have no voice and need us to speak for them and protect them.
I will never stop what I do ,I try to get passed the heartbreaks by remembering these are many more who need help.
Many times I have wanted to just walk away due to the pain,but I just can't do it.
This is my calling as it is Artys,and together we can make a difference.Arty opened my eyes over a year ago ,He told me I should open my doors to the wild birds as well as exotics and his words stuck with me,and I listened and now I help any little one that needs me.
Thank you Nate you have made my night and I feel as if I can smile.

I dont always comment on the threads with the sweet little babies in need. Its mostly because I cant find the words. I dont know that I could ever have the strength the 2 of you have. Id be in tears night and day. Not to say you dont have your share, Im sure you have cried more than any of us know. It takes chosen people to do your work. You are both clearly chosen.

yes there are many tears but these little ones give you the srength to go on,when you look in the faces of the ones in need,you tend to get more strength to fight for them.

Heavenly Father I ask Thee
to guide my hands this day,
To carry the weak, heal the sick
I take home with me today
This little helpless creature
that depends on me for life
doesn't understand my feelings
as I stand in vigel hours
waiting for some sign of life
Grant me wisdom and mercy
as I do right by them today

I am going to miss you.
The other birds will too.
I looked forward to the day
that you would fly away.
I was preparing to say goodbye...
but not like this.
How could the death of a little bird,
an "insignificant" sparrow,

I did everything I knew,
to feed and comfort you.
I laughed when you fluttered
your Tiny Wings.
If you could have lived by love and will,

But instead, I held you as you died.

You never got to try your wings,
