Great job! I love to hear "Happy Ending" stories like this. Most people would have just let that bird be!

Hi,

'Amazing Save' has been in the aviary for about a month and doing well.

His leg, however, has not returned to normal. He developed dry gangrene of the middle front toe and lost the two outer phalanges. When I asked the vet about it, she said to let it run its course; and it looks like it has stopped;and the toe has healed.

I am hoping that will at least open-up his foot enough so he can learn to stand on it. So far he limps around at top speed.

His 'attitude' is still on; and he is doing fine as an aviary bird, flying around, eating, and doing bird things.

Yesterday, I checked little Amazing Save in the aviary; and he is flying around and doing bird things. His foot is paralyzed; so he stumps around like a little pirate with a peg leg.

But that doesn't stop him from perching and getting his share of the food.

He's sharing the budgie aviary; and they seem to be getting along fine.

Too bad it got stiff/paralyzed. I've seen that happen with trauma. Is it more of the same or another injury?

Thanks for the updates - any photos?
