Default Re: Abi landed on my head!

What a looker, Abi is a fine bird.
Leaving at night still bothers me a great deal, the mystery behind the leaving just has me bewildered and frankly (worried).
Knowing someone tried to catch Abi and got a handful of tail feathers has me on edge, (I see the tail is coming back in nicely).
I wish I could say Abi is wild (feral), I know he isn't, there has been a human in Abi's past...this shines...and worries me...
I pray your loving ways will yet make changes within Abi's world and he decides to stay with you always.
Your relationship with Abi is unique Donna, very unique...very rare...
Abi returns to his birth place every night...I sure would like to know where that is...its close by...
How to convince Abi to use the shed may never happen, these birds always return to there birth place aka Loft...always...
There are (a few) folks that claim they have re-trained the Pigeon to home at a new location, but as I said...a few...
Please don't mind me, Abi's leaving at night the mystery behind such leavings, knowing the (one of a kind) relationship between you 2...well....you know!!!!!
The only time I feel comfortable is when Abi is with you Donna!
That bird honestly loves you, this has to be a great feeling...it simply HAS TO BE!
Sending my love & prayers to you and your Abi.
Arty

A few more pics....Abi has now become Mr. Photogenic. I left the camera out on that wicker table and he was so curious about it...dancing all around it like that orange! Abi just found me by the window again...he took flight from the ground right up into the screen......if the window was open he would have flown right in! Wish I could have gotten that on video! I was drying my hair in the bathroom and there he was on a low tree branch outside the window watching me! This is a very smart bird! He follows me all around.

Taking a nap!

I was wondering if anyone knew if birds can see in total darkness? Abi settled in on the end of one of my trellises when darkness set in. He even had his head tucked in for the night. He was perched like that till almost 7pm. I went to check on him at 7:15 and he was gone. How did he fly in the night darkness?

I am wondering if I happen to be holding him around dusk one night, if I should just put him in that shed. I am just afraid I will spook him and he will lose my trust and never come back after an episode like that. What do you think Arty? Just in case I get the ok for doing that should I put some pine hay in there? He likes to walk on the pine hay in the yard.

Pigeons don't see so well in the dark, however they will fly in the dark if need be.
I wouldn't worry about loosing the trust if placing Abi into the shed, might help matters.
as long as Abi feels safe.
The hay will be okay.

Go figure! Abi has been on that canopy all day. First time in a while. There are big storms coming in tomorrow morning with alot of wind gusts and possible tornadoe watches. I will try to get him in that shed tonight. Otherwise I will worry about him tomorrow.
