Oh Donna! How wonderful. I knew it would happen sooner or later. I'm so happy for you but it makes me miss my Gem terrably.

I cannot imagine waiting for Abi to show up every morning and one day he does not! I would feel such emptiness. So I know how you feel Susan. Abi has become such a part of my life. He is such a joy to have and be around. I worry someday Abi will not come back too. Since Gem was so young he must have found a female somewhere and is in another loft or somewhere with other pigeons. When they fly free this is something we have to always worry and think about like Arty says. I am sure Gem is safe and he is free the way God meant him to be. I bet he is close by and will come back for a visit one day. I would always leave some seed out!

I started to wait for Aubrey and pace the floors. The 1st night she didnt show I expected it, rain was coming that night. I was relieved she didnt come. But she never came back. I paced the floor for weeks at dusk. I still look from time to time. At least she was here long enough to touch my life and I will always remember her. She chose to be here when she came. Abi chooses you. Its very special.

That is awesome Donna, you really must have earned his trust. I am so glad he is looking good and it sounds like he is in love with you as much as you are with him!

Donna, that's just extraordinary!! I know it has been a long, hard process to earn this trust, and that's what makes it so special. It will always be hard to bear the burden of wondering if Abi will return, but as you say, Abi flies free as he was intended to do. Right from the beginning, this has been such a wonderful story. Perhaps one day you'll set it all down in a book?

Guess what everyone? This happened twice today. Abi was way up in a tree. I went out twice and called to him. Both times he flew down to me and landed on the trellis above my head. I then went over to his dish on the canopy and he flew over to there and then landed on my head again and was walking all over my head cooing! I LOVE MY BIRD OF PEACE!

HE JUMPED ONTO MY HEAD....PUT MY HANDS UP UNDER HIS WINGS AND PET HIM AND PUT HIS FEET ONTO MY HAND.....HE LET ME!!!!!!!!
I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED! FINALLY.....WAS WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR SOOOOOO LONG!
