Default Abi Dances!

I went up on a small stepstool up to that canopy on her level and talked to her for like 10 min....telling her how pretty she was, etc. (people would think I was crazy) and she started cooing like crazy, turning around and around and cooing...like she was doing this big dance for quite a while and even coming close to me! What was that all about? What do you think Arty? Sometimes I want to trap her and hold her forever! Yikes, I worry about her so much!

Its a beautiful thing to have one on one interaction with a wild creature. Knowing she can just fly away, she would rather be in your company.

Abi sounds like a male, does he/she puff the chest out while doing the dance?
Females are more submissive, Males will dance and coo alot, just sounds like Abi is a boy...
You have a very unique situation there Donna, a very unique situation indeed.
Animals can sense the goodness in humans, they know whom to trust...
Oneday Abi will allow you to touch her, what a exciting day that will be...but for now, you will have to love Abi from afar, as he/she loves you from afar.
Time Donna, Time.......
Arty

Abi puffs his chest out bigtime while cooing! She is a He! Abi has also been flying down to the ground once in a while when I am sitting out there...if it is very quiet he comes closer to me each time. When I used to change his seed and water up top of that canopy he would freak a little bit....not anymore. I think he has 95% trust in me.
I do not undestand why he has not tried to find a girlfriend! Hope he does not! Will he stay here forever....into his old age? I notice he is very acute to other bird noises..always onguard..he slims his body down and stretches his neck out...I call it his caution mode. I use to have hawks hanging around here alot. I noticed that was happening when I put Miki outside....I do not put him out anymore and the hawks seemed to have disappeared. Knock on wood!
Thanx for another Arty hearfelt reply....you are just the most kindhearted wonderful person to know! Thanx again Arty for all you help with Abi and I. I truly appreciate the time you have taken to respond to all of my posts.

Donna I just wanted to say it's such a pleasure reading about your experiences with Abi and I get such a warm feeling knowing you have connected in such a special way with a "wild" bird. I think it's truly fantastic in every way. The world would be a much better place if there were more people who cared like you do. Best wishes as always.

Amen Deb...Amen to that...
Wild pigeons live to be 6 years old, captive Pigeons can live to be 16 years.
I used to speak with another person on a different board concerning her Dove, her bird was nearing 17 years old...
Its hard to judge the age of Abi, al I know for sure is He/She is so elegant, so mysterious....such innocence...
I can feel your worries about Abi, but for me....I am at peace as far as you and Abi are concerned, Abi has Donna...this is my salvation....knowing Abi has found Donna....
Peace
Arty

Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Hi Deb, Oh my! That is the most beautiful saying I have ever read! It brought tears to my eyes!
Thanx for your kind reply. I love posting about Abi as I love her dearly. Almost everything is new to me with Abi and I never want to have to second guess myself with this little doves life in my hands. I always want to make sure I do the best and make the best decisions for Abi. I am so glad I found PC. There are so many people here to help with any questions each of us may have.
Anyone who has compassion for any of Gods creatures I hold close to my heart. That is what led me to PC!

Abi came into you life for a reason, this reason may elude all of us.
Abi brought you to ParrotChatter and here you will stay, I will NEVER let you go Donna....Never....

Arty, Abi was on the roof ledge preening this morning....I climbed up to his level...he let me pet his foot with my finger! Amazing!
