Default Good Macaw breeder

I know I'm full of Mac questions today

Just out of curiousity...does anyone know of a good, responsible breeder who breeds Harlequins? I don't care if it would have to be shipped (anywhere in the U.S.). As long as it's healthy and well socialized.

I can't find anyone on Google and I have no idea who's who as far as Mac breeders go.

Not passing any judgment here, but maybe you might consider a rehome or rescue. Theres lots of really sweet birds out there needing a home. Im sure Gini can put you in touch with the right people. Hope it works out.

I volunteer at a rescue and am adopting a B&G (1 or more), but not rushing things. I've volunteered for over 6 months and they're just now getting used to my presence and not practicing their neurotic behaviours when I come up to them. When they offer their head for a scritch, then I will be allowed to take it home. If I could find a Harlequin for adoption, I'd consider it before buying one. I'm just curious so I have a back-up plan. I've really fallen for Harlequins and I think it'd be fun to raise a baby Macaw!

I've already warned the fiance we're going to be a multiple Macaw house-hold!

You might try A Parrot's Cove here in Houston. They have a website. I got my Ruby from them.

Ooooh

At A Parrot's Cove, Harlequins are $1700 and B&G are $1300...getting better...but still kind of a LOT, however at least I know well socialized babies come from therre...down here I can get a B&G for $999 but it wouldn't be socialized that well and impersonally hand fed...unless I made sure that my friend who works there raises it, then she'd take it home with her every night and I could go over and play with it and even feed it night feedings under her super vision................

Check different rescue's , there are many Harlequins in rescue's. I got my Harlequin when she came into my rescue 6 years ago,and she is the best bird.

Gini! Does Lynda have any Harlequins in the rescue network of birds waiting for new homes???

My rescue still does not have any Harlies but she said we'll get about 12 Macaws a year...mostly B&G though.

Lol.. I warned my husband about the same thing. He's like "no we aren't" At least he's letting me have a couple of the different kinds of smaller guys and 1 macaw in the future.

I've been looking around for Macaw breeders because I want a green wing.
