Sarah, every once in a while they try to mate. I have 2 girls and 7 boys so things are a bit uneven. They don't get to consumate anything. I have seen Tattoo try with Manea (his sister) and Tiki try with Rima (his daughter) but the others will interrupt them! I think they must get jealous or something! There are no nest boxes in the bird room and no dark corners for them to incubate in, nothing that looks "nesty". Sometimes we find eggs on the floor but they are clear.

Thank you all for the compliments.... I put this up a while ago and did not get too much response... So I thought I better leave well enough alone.
But it makes me happy that it has been read. I love breeding, I love the babies... The only ones I pull early are the P'let, only because they have such large clutches...(Usually 6 to a clutch). and Daddy is forever feeding Mommy... Poor little guy has to work overtime....LOL So I like to help them out a little....

BIG PRO of breeding - Species Conservation

My little RF only has a few tens of his kind left in the wild. Without breeders he would be gone from the world. It makes me horribly sad to think of world where these fantastic creatures are relegated to zoos or history books. Admittedly I'm to selfish to lose Merlin's love but I applaud everyone who keeps our birds in this world.

Yup,
best perch ever. When we move into a bigger place in a few months I'm getting the Jumbo for our Greenwing.

I had a new-found appreciation for those involved in breeding parrots when I went to visit my blue&gold at the home of his handfeeder nearly 2 years ago -- when she answered the door, she looked like she had been put through a wringer!! She explained to me that she had been up every hour on the hour for the prior 24 hours handfeeding a baby umbrella cockatoo!! I thought -- Wow -- now that's commitment!!

Denise -- you are the dedicated type of breeder I admire!! Thank you for your article -- it was very enlightening!

Hats off to all the breeders out there, that is one hard job.
The breeder we got Kally(YCM) from here in Canada is very dedicated as well, the long nights of feeding is very hard on a person... A friend of mine got a baby from Calgary and we went to visit the breeder, and he too looked very tired, but just loved what he was doing... Talk about dedication!!!!!..Again...you breeders hats off to you

Thank you so much for that... It is so nice to hear that every once in a while.. I do get that from my Flock Families... and I just love getting the letters from them telling me how much they love their new babies...

This is so nice to see...From myself and from the rest of the breeders (I hope you don't mind me speaking for you) It is nice to be appreciated for what we do.
This is a wonderful group here that has the courtesy to thank breeders for the work we do... it is hard work, but we choose to do it. I know a lot of you don't like bird breeders ... and I want to thank you for not bashing us in this topic. It has happened to me so many times, I have lost count.
I love what I do, I don't over breed, And I truly believe, I have given all my babies the very start to their lives as I possibly could.
Thank you all again.
