Thank you. I am doing my best for him. I have to admit if it wasnt for groups like this i would have sent him to an aviary because he hated me and i was scared that everything i did for him was wrong. Everyone in the parrot groups have encouraged me and offered a lot of appreciated advice. i now know we are on a long and very bumpy road in our relationship. Had him 13 weeks and only seen major improvement in last week. He is starting to look for my attention and gets very excited when playing peepo, starts showing off and shaking his feathers. He even gives the odd squawk in front of me. He usually only talks when he is by himself and has gone from squawking to making all sorts of strange sounds. We had to go to vets last week, i was really worried as i had to get him in his small cage. No mean feat when i cant get near him! i was expecting him clinging to back of cage as far away from me as possible on the journey but he sat on the perch facing me and only holding on with one hand. (a compliment on my driving i think) he really seemed to enjoy his adventure and turned his back on his big cage when we got home, took him 3 hours to decide to go back in. Ive since offered him the chance to go back in small cage but he has so far declined. I would have taken him for a drive if he had gone in. We both enjoyed the trip to vets and seemed to help the bonding process. Its amazing what rubbish you can say in an hour but i had his undivided attention.
