Angry Two Men Steal Parrot From Pet Store

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/10814900/detail.html

STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -- Sterling Heights police are searching for two men who stole a parrot from a pet store.
It happened Saturday around 12:30 p.m.
Tony Delibro from Petland in Sterling Heights said the two men walked in, grabbed the bird and walked out of the store.
The two men were caught on surveillance video.
The parrot was a Quaker parrot from South America. The bird is worth $1,000.
Delibro said he is concerned because the parrot still needs to be hand fed.
If you have any information contact Sterling Heights police or Petland in Sterling Heights at 586-739-8585.
The store is located in the strip mall on the southwest corner of M59 and Mound roads.

Check out the link for video of the thieves in action!!!

I hope they get that poor baby back!

I think they are mixed up, the photo on the story is an Amazon, not a Quaker.

That's horrible! We had this happen at a pet store here locally last year. It was a group of guys. They knew what they were doing and who to distract and walked in, grabbed multiple sun conures, stuck them in their coat pockets and disappeared. As far as I know, they were never caught.

Yeah, it happens here, too. Bird Hut lost at least 2 valuable parrots (a Pionus who died--starved to death as it was a handfeeding baby) and a sweet, SWEET U2 baby. Neither were recovered, although I think the people who stole the Pi were taken to court, as they were also video'd and ID'd by an employee.

It's such a sad thing, because people either don't know or don't care that so many of the birds are handfeeding babies who can't survive on a "grown up" diet. But again, I think that an awful lot of them are stolen to sell or trade for drugs, so perhaps they don't care. Theives, especially those who steal innocent baby birds, REALLY pee me off!
