Re: New Member Here Thanks to all for the warm welcome! I'll get some pics up when I get a minute. Jack is a big ham and loves to have his picture taken! Just a bit about Jack.....he just turned two years old. When he was about 9 months old he got ahold of an electrical cord and got a very severe shock injury. He burned the top of his beak. He twitched for a very long time after that and he quit talking....the little bit that he did at that age. But the vet said I was very lucky that he survived at all as most birds don't. He was not sure if Jack would have permanent neurological damage. Anyway....he is just over two years old now and there is no sign of permanent damage. We believe the injury "reset" his brain and he started his life over at 9 months old. He is talking very well now and is putting phrases together and using them cognitively. Yesterday he said "Where's Pipper? Pipper go bye bye?" Pipper is my dog and she was outside. I have been trying to teach Jack the concept of "outside" as opposed to "go bye bye." He is going through his terrible twos.....for instance when I come home from work, he refuses to come out of his cage and "attacks" me. I'll tell him, "fine then, just stay in there." Low and behold he starts carrying on, "Want out" "Hi Momma" etc, etc. But when I go to get him out, he does the two year old brat thing and refuses to come out. It is frustrating, but quite comical. Anyway, he is my best buddy and I love him bunches. I am looking forward to all your stories and hints and sharing Jack's too!
