Thank you all for the warm welcome. I look forward to getting to know you and learn as much as I can from you. We are adding a dove to the flock. It's a chick that my husband brought home from his job. He knocked it out of a nest and couldn't get the baby and momma back together. I have had him for over a week and he has doubled in size and all of his feathers are in -so we are on our way. I had him eating some cockatiel seed and pellets today. I plan to take him to the vet, make sure he doesn't have any nasty bugs and if he gets a clean bill of health, we'll keep him- or if we find anything that we can fix. We named him Scuttle ...he's fledging already too. Doves are quick! I hadn't planned to keep him, but none of the wildlife places wanted to help, so here we are.

Oh Wanda he is sooo cute....

He is cute. I have a story to go with him- The way doves eat (I was just forced to learn) is different from other babies, they actually stick their beaks in their mom's mouth and eat. I had to fashion a feeding syringe by cutting the entire edge off of it and then fill it with formula. I needed something stretchy and all I had was some red lycra underwear! THEY ARE BRAND new so don't anyone say anything! *LOL* Anyway, I cut a small hole and covered the tube with the red lycra ummmm garment. He has gotten so used to red he chases any red he sees. My son walked into the kitchen with red shorts on and the baby flew over to his shorts. -Thought it was feeding time. Now that's a story! Poor thing- lucky I can't black mail him with it when he gets older like I do my kids and their stories! *LOL*
