Hello everyone and everybirdie!
For those of you that don’t already know me, my name is Lisa F. and I am the proud parront of 4 wonderful fids. I am 37 yrs. old and I have an 8 yr. old daughter and I have been married 10 yrs. My life with birds started back in January 2005 when my father rescued a tiel in his front yard being attacked by two crows. When we could not locate the owner of this little fella, my father gave him to my daughter. Well parents are always the ones that end up taking care of our kids pets, plus my daughter was scared of him at first because he was not very tame, but since Grandpa did give him to her, she insisted on naming him and gave him the name Tinkerbell. When I told her this was a boy bird, she replied, “Yes, I know, however he does not realize that Tinkerbell is a girl’s name, because he is a bird Mom and I like the name Tinkerbell!” So Tinkerbell it is! Well after a few days Tinkerbell warmed up to me and after a few weeks him and I became best buddies; I was hooked and MBS struck! The second fid in our flock is a blue IRN, whom I brought home from the breeder at the age of just 8 weeks old. I named him Tiki. Tiki is a very sweet loving little fella too and talks up a storm. He will be 2 yrs. old on April 5, 2007. My next flock member is a pretty little lady named Riley. She is a CAG and I met her at the breeders house when she was only 4 weeks old and just a ball of fuzzy down feathers. She was - and still is - very hard headed and did not wean until she was 5 months old. She just turned 1 yr. old on Feb. 17, 2007. She is starting to talk fairly well herself and enjoys telling the other birds in the house “Shhhh, Quite!” when they are starting to get too loud. She has even started putting names with it as well and even tells herself the same thing! “Shhh, Quite Tiki!” or “Shhhh, Quite Riley!”, because she knows she is a culprit too for getting carried away on the noise level! Our most recent member to our flock is a 16 ½ yr. old female SI Ekkie, named Sayde Rose. I was not looking to add another member to our flock. I was just out on craigslist just looking around for the heck of it and I found her adoption ad. I saw the ad on a Friday and thought about her all weekend long, when I went back out on craigslist on Monday, the ad had been removed. I kept a watch for the entire week when I noticed another ad for a CAG from the same person, so I immediately contacted them to see if Sayde was still up for adoption. I was told yes and I sent my profile to them and we instantly hit it off and I brought Sayde home that Sunday, March 3, 2007. The previous owners use to run a rescue, however due to health problems, could no longer properly care for the birds. My little Sayde Rose had lived with them her entire life, she was not a rescue and it was very hard for them to give her away, however she wanted to make sure all her birds had great forever homes in case something happens to her. Sayde is the best bird I have ever met! She does not bite, she step up immediately when asked to, she loves everyone and enjoys sitting on your forearm for scritches. She very rarely makes a sound and when she does it is not the ear piercing ekkie scream, it sounds more like a muffled yell from the Peanuts teacher. She does say a few words, but she says them very low in almost a whisper. I am so happy this little angel came to join my flock! Here’s all their pictures:
