Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and my flock. My name is Jeanne and I'm a friend of Barb's from SCBR. She told me what a great site this is so I decided to check it out for myself. I see a lot of members that are on a couple of other sites I belong too.

I've been doing rescue work for a while and I'm currently working on setting up a "legal" rescue and applying for my 501c3. Hopefully by the end of January I'll have all the paperwork in. I'm getting a lot of help from Barb on what and how to do things. I'm also going to be a full time birdie Mom as of the end of the December...hope they don't get sick of me being home all the time ;-)

Let me introduce my flock...

I have 12 macaws..yeah, I know I'm nuts. We have 2 hyacinths - Piaui (13 months) and Maverick (15yo). They are truly the gentle giants. Piaui's favorite spot is on his back in my lap. Plus I think he's half monkey. Maverick is an x breeder and for the past 6 years was kept alone in a room with little human interaction. He's absolutely loving life now..his favorite thing to do is steal John's fork as he's eating dinner. MaiTai is a 12 yo scarlet who is too smart for her own good. She constantly talking and singing. Budgie (age unknown) was brought to us earlier this year with severe feather/follicle damage.. you couldn't tell now, he's fully feathered and has such confindence. Ruben is a 15 yo GW that doesn't care for human affection but loves to give kisses and I've gotten a few head frizzes. Lulu (GW) & Ciccio (35 yo b&g) are bonded boys...yes Lulu is a boy. They like to terrorize us and love human interaction. Picassa is my 3 year old b&g, she's a sissor beak and always makes her seem like she's smiling. She learned how to be a "bird" by imitation Ciccio and all his quirks...Valentine is a 15yo female GW that is an absolute doll. She loves to cuddle with me and has seem to of chosen Piaui and her love interest. Beaker is a BTM - she's a sissor beak and she's also missing 1/2 her bottom beak and some toes. She has no idea she's different. Her favorite thing to do is sit on my chest and talk to me. She likes women better than men. Moki is our Harliquin. She's big, beautiful and and loves my hubby. She loves to cuddle with both of us and keeps the other fids in line. Homer is a miligold that is just getting to know us. She seems to prefer me of John so far. R2 is a 30 yo BFA that is an import. She has a deformed foot so we made a special needs cage for her so she doesn't have to stand on a perch all the time. She loves to sing opera and is totally in love with Men! Noah is my little quaker. He's a feather picker and mutilator. He loves to cuddle, whistle and talk. His latest is when it's time to go to bed "Good night Noah" and in the morning "good morning Noah". Ziggy & Casey are my senegals. Ziggy loves to fly and when he lands on you it's like being hit with a brick. He is definitely a big bird stuck in a little birds body. Casey hates other birds. She loves to sit you on an "talk" her talk and cuddle. Our greys are all very independent but still like to spend time getting cuddled. Gizmo talks in english & spanish and sings Bon Jovi Living on a Prayer....he just keeps going and going. Gino is my male ekkie that has reached sexual maturity...and I'm his mate. Besides that he's a sweet adorable bird ;-)
Igor was our first rescue years ago...he's a plucked love bird that is friends with our senegal Ziggy. He doesn't like to be touched but will be the first at the dinner table eating off your plate. Boo, Scout & Static are my tiels that love to be a part of everything. They love to whistle. My roesllas are quiet birds the are just enjoying life. Ginsu is a chestnut mandible toucan. She's six years old and is very intersted in everything you do...especially cleaning. She loves to throw pellets all over the place after you've cleaned.
