Default Hello from Illinois

Hello everyone my bf my flock and myself hope to get to know you all better. We are dedicated to improving the life of any bird that needs it who happens to cross our paths. We have a love for these guys that is hard to explain. Family and freinds (well the non birdie friends) just dont understand it how we can have "that many birds" and actually we are now only down to 10 we do rehabilitation and rehoming and are starting to get into fostering as well. Our flock only consists of 7 well spoiled and loved babies. Ok wait 7 inside we also have a large array of livestock chickens turkeys ducks geese guineas and 2 rescued emu's we are looking into donating those guys to a zoo if anyone knows how it is all done please educate me I am not getting anywhere. Ok back to my indoor flock...

In the order they came to us.

Kady is a female normal green peachface lovebird we were talked out of a conure said oh you dont want a conure blah blah blah and detered us "BIG time" but that is ok otherwise Kady would have never entered our lives she is your typical female lovie packed with a lot of attitude Kady was a small mom n pop pet shop bird. She will be turning 3 in November

We were hooked...

We then tossed all we were taught about not wanting a conure into the garbage and in came Cayenne she was a rehome we are his/her 3rd home. Cay Cay is a Nansun (Naday and sun hybrid) She ( I really am thinking girl) will be turning 3 next month.

Jacob ohhh Jacob my sweet little boy. Jacob is a Jenday (yeah not only did we toss the stuff the woman told us we burried it!) On a trip to the pet shop where we got Kady to get some food and extra toys we ran into Jacob the prior owner could no longer care for him he was 4 months old when we got him we are his 3rd home. He just turned 1 Febuary14th.

Kady is not handable as I said before the typical female lovie well we decided to get her a cagemate (we do not do any breeding this was for companionship purposes only)

Deli he is a cutie he is an olive peachface split to cinnamon. He loves only Kady and is not keen on humans but that is quite allright. He will be turning 1 in June. Deli was a rehome as well 3rd home at 2 months.

:sidenote: After Kady got her first bird she has toned it down so much she no longer will try to rip the fingers off your hand. And she isnt as hyper and crazy as she was.

enter B.U.B (back-up-butt) Bub is a cobalt blue black masked lovie I cannot believe how much more calmer this species is compared to the peachies. Bub came from another small petshop we had been looking forever to find her. We are in the proccess of finding her a friend as well Bub will be 1 in July.

Charro now Charro is my boy he is a B&G he is just turned 25 April 1st he is my lil fool. He has a vocab of over 50 words and many phrases he was wild caught and bought when he was 2 1/2 he lived with the same woman for 22 years till she had to move and could not take him with. Charro was not handled in the 22 years the woman had him he has come a long way. Charro came from a rescue. He used my bf to get here lol at least that is what he says. The day at the rescue Charro was all nice and sweet to my b/f I stood in the shadows this was suppose to be his bird a dream he has had forever. It was working well till a few days later when he turned on him and set his sights on me. My bf still loves him to death but has come to terms Charro is now my bird and no one can do anything about it let em try :insert Charros evil laugh:

Next came Sumoc he was turned over to me after the woman who had him decided it was just way too much work so that is how this lil 4 month old sun came to live with us. She wants him to live out the rest of his years here with us so he is a permy and my bf has a Sun conure that loves only him. Sumoc will be 1 in November.

Right now we have 3 rehabbers 1 gray whiteface cockatiel who is terrified of people he is out of quarentine and waiting for that certain someone who he can trust and 2 masked lovies 1 green and 1 blue who are in quarentine till next week.

There you have it that is us a family that still hasnt stopped growing.

I loved your bird stories - I can't wait to see 'larger' photos of them all.

I really loved how you 'destroyed' the info on Conures.

Those Suns seem to be quite the bird. I guess Jendays must be too. A Nansun - Now that's a strange one! You obviously aren't about to give up on the Lovies - no matter their temperament.

Glad your bf handled the rejection - normal that Charro would like a woman. I will look for his stories. Was he caged for all those 20 years?

Hi & Welcome
So far as the conures go Sumoc (sun) is a sweet lil boy he was hand raised which makes handling so much easier he is sweet with me but he soo prefers my bf the woman so had hear heart set on him but she soon discovered that he needed so much more attention than she could give him she still keeps in touch for updates and she was so disappointed in herself that she did not have what it took to care for him. Jacob (jenday) now he is a stinker lol he is very jealous of any bird Sumoc is his mortal enemy right now sad because Sumocs first word was Jacob as that is Jacobs fave word as well along with the wolf whistle. Cayenne (nansun) is by far the best of the three she loves all birds she tries to befriend every single one that enters our home right now her fasination is on Sumoc and Angel the Whiteface tiel. She is also the only one that Jacob gets along with. Over all she is sweet she does have her moments but then again who doesnt. she is not a talker though she has a lil mumbling sound she does where I can swear you can hear a I love you and she is great at kissy sounds.

As far as Charro goes no he wasnt caged he never seen a cage he roamed free ruling the roost for 22 years (it deffy shows) and getting the dog into trouble from some of the words he uses that I know I have not taught him he scolds the dog and himself with such anger its saddening. he will even cuss himself out with a lil I love Charro here and there. Physically he was well taken care of emotionally is a diffy story when you just sit and listen to the things that ramble out of that mouth of his. His first night home with us was very interesting trying to get him accustomed to going to cage for bed he did not want to have anything to do with that he did however accept it once he figured out the big mean cage wasnt going to hurt him he was in love with the other macaw that lived in the food bowl (reflection) and really became protective of it since then we have switched to clear bowls and all problems ceased. He still runs the house during the day going to visit everyone. I did a day in the life of Charro on another forum I will have to go dig it out and post it here.

The lovies well they are lovies lol mean lil buttheads well the peachies are but loved none the less. such lil clowns. Kady is the only one who will talk well 1 word "kitty" her fave toy she has killed 3 and now I can no longer find them (so anyone out there if you know where I can get this toy let me know it is shaped like a kittys head holds a small bb that makes its noise its a ball type toy) she will also do the come here and wolf whistle.

Pictures will be free flowing I just cant help myself when it comes to taking pictures of my babies.

And thank you to the both of you up there for the Welcome.

Wow welcome, just love all the conures they are pretty much a lot of bird in a small package and seriously loud. Peanut sends greetings in his sun voice to all the conures.

I am not sure who has the loudest voice a sun or a nanday so I guess you have the winning combination. I do whisper to get the volume turned down a bit, it makes Peanut quack.
