If you were looking to donate to a zoo I believe you can either call the zoo directly (someone in HR can give you the right contacts) or the humane society should know of connections you can call, I know the zoo back in St Louis at one point had DOZENS of cockatiels that had been dropped off, and larger macaws. No doubt an emu or two was once someone's pet as well!

Thank you. I would love to see them placed someplace they can be enjoyed by others. I got them last year after a friend told me about them I was really apprehensive about getting them thought they were mean like the ostrich I couldnt of been more wrong they are sweet and will allow butt rubs and an occasional head scratching. We named them Melbourne (m) and Sydney (f) they are thought to be a couple years old and the man that had them was going to shoot them because he did not want them anymore (we even rescued a weimeraner from the place too she was in rough shape tumors on her and the guy was going to kill her as well found a lovely home for him through the local weimeraner rescue) Sydney has some old injuries that were never fixed such as the small bone that sticks up and out through her leg that has healed over from a break she recieved by the hands of the man that had her she gets along fine but you know with weather changes it has to hurt her. Thank you I will have to call around to the zoos to see who would be interested in them if none are they will be going to a sanctuary. here is a video slideshow of them.

I have heard emus to be very nice! I'm certainly glad you gave them a home! I can't believe anyone would hurt an animal like that, though we all have seen it time and time again. I hope Syd's leg doesn't hurt her too much, perhaps the next home can surgery that thing back into place. Good luck, let us know about all your updates!!

Yes they are very nice I did a lot of googling on them that evening and the next morning was off to pick them up. I have gotten in so many neglected animals people just amaze me. The last was a pair of masked lovies. What a mess. Sad to say though the cockatoo and Myna never made it out alive was told the too just up and died yeah ok and the myna choked on a cheeto some people should never own a animal.
We are always getting cats just dumped here on the farm and of course big softies we are they become permy residents ( I am severly allergic to cats lol) thankfully my bf isnt he just adores them. Ok here I go rambling again. Thank you osprey for the kind words.

You are so right in saying some people should never own an animal. Cat abuse is the reason my folks don't let their cat go outside as much anymore. They had some nasty neighbors move in who smashed in some folks' garage windows. We can't imagine what they would do to an animal!! I am glad to hear your cats are happy, sorry you are allergic but at least you can show people what having a heart is like!! Thumbs up!
