Hello, hope you gain from my input. My name is Sue.
I have a Sulpha Crested Cockatoo named Peggy.
Peggy is most likely PBFD positive, she was just tested this Monday. As you can see in my avatar she has hardly any feathers and wears a jumper to keep her warm.
Peggy has become a part of my life and I love her dearly.
It is hard at times knowing the expected outcome for her but she is a great companion and I adore her.
She is not my first PBFD bird, I had Manau before her who passed a year or so ago.
My purpose is to educate all bird owners of the disease PBFD which is Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease. Psittacine is Parrots, Hook Bill birds.
Greys, Macaws, Budgies, Cockatoos, Parrots can all be affected.
I have put the link to Manau's site which was built shortly before her death, it is not a discussion board as such, there is a link to a forum, but this forum is PBFD specific only. It is not a general chat forum about birds. It's aim is to help those who have birds affected with PBFD. I hope I am allowed to keep this signature, it would be much appreciated.
Manau's website is to help educate and build awareness of the dreaded PBFD, how to look after the affected bird, how to detect the signs and symptoms of the disease.
I also have 2 Labradors, one of which I show, he is almost an Australian Champion. I work part time at a dog boarding kennels and a cat boarding facility, I build websites as a hobby.
