Wow, you have a fantastic setup for your birds! So many play areas, and I'm so jealous of your wired porch!!

Ditto on the set ups! Loved the veranda - reminds me a lot of our old farm house, but we had bats & swallows using it instead of Tropical birds!

How has Fran justed to the 2 other Macaws? - has it improved her plucking?

Loved the shelf shot with the Too - very sweet - totally looks up to no good.

Hi Justjoshin, I live 12 miles north of New York City. We have not scheduled any events, and don't plant to, except there is an outstanding group that gives homeopathic workshops. If I can get them to New York, New York Birds would sponsor a workshop at that time. There is the manhattanbirdclub.com , they do sponsor events, and some I have attended in the past have been very good.

The wired in porch was my big brainstorm and I imported the mesh directly from China, paying a quarter what I would have payed otherwise, but it was really complicated! I have never imported anything before, and it took a couple of days running around JFK airport. But it was worth it They can really fly out there! The reason they have all these different areas is that we have 6 teenagers living with us, and no extra room. I would give my eyeteeth for a real birdroom!

Sorry to double post... Franny's plucking has not improved with macaw company. After Ollie's arrival last summer, her plucking actually became worse, and the little fringe she had on her belly disappeared. But that was accompanied by such personal growth. She became so much more outgoing and gently assertive, I would say she has really emerged a great deal from her shell. I really don't pay too much attention to her plucking any more. I did purchase a new product to spray on her and it has just arrived. If it's any good I will alert you. But with Franny, I am happy just to see her relate to us and gradually become more and more loving and less psycho. She still has her moments, but she has not administered a vicious bite in at least a year, and she is a much happier bird than when she first arrived.

Hey Sweet Marie my belated welcome to Parrot Chatter! How fun.

Lately I'm zooming in and out because I've been busy but thanks for posting.

BTW that plucking spray I told you about (in July - the dog thing) came from a member here, majbirds. They're Macaw people. (m for maryanne and j for him lol)They cant post as much as usual lately but you'll see them around.

Hi Cindy. Justjoshin, I live directly north of Yonkers. When you wrote 'resources', I thought you were looking for local bird related events You're welcome to email me if you want.
