How would you like to have your feathered friends included in a special, professionally-printed 2008 Parrot Chatter Calendar? That's right! A 2008 Parrot Chatter Calendar! We are going to open up a series of photo contests in the months of November and December and the lucky winners will have their photos included in the calendar! The calendar will be offered for sale at cost to members starting in January 2008 and it will be the prize awarded to the winners of our monthly photo contests for November and December 2007 and January through June 2008! So get your cameras ready! Here is an explanation of how the contests will be run and a schedule of the contests:

The contests will run from November 1st through December 12th. Only 1 photo per member will be included in the calendar. If a member participates in more than one contest and wins more than once, the member will have the option of selecting which of his or her winning photos will be included in the calendar. In that event, each contest in which the multiple-winner does not opt to include his or her photo, the member with the next-highest number of votes in that contest will be deemed the winner. The contests are organized by month and each shall have a theme. All submitted photos must be of high resolution and with a pixel size of at least 1600 x 1200. Since the winners are determined by vote of our general membership, Moderators may participate in these contests. Ready? Okay -- let's have some fun!!

Photo Submission Period - Months & Theme

Nov 1st through Nov 7th: January (eating healthy) & February (romantic birdies)

Nov 8th through Nov 14th: March (spring cleaning -- preening birdies) that & April (april showers -- wet birds!)


Nov 15th through Nov 21st: May (Parrots with their buddies -- toys, friends, etc.) & June (summer days)


Nov 22nd through Nov 28th: July (parrots at play) & August (sleeping birds)


Nov 29th through Dec 5th: September (birds in flight) & October (harvest/halloween)


Dec 6th through Dec 12th: November (thanksgiving) & December (holiday or winter photos)


Voting Schedule

At the end of each Photo Submission Period, a poll will open in which the submitted photos for the month in question will be posted and members will be asked to vote for which should be included in the 2008 Calendar. A separate poll shall be run as to each month for the 2008 Calendar. Each poll will remain open for a period of 7 days at which time a winner shall be declared and announced on the Board.

I'm very excited about this. We always get fabulous entries in the photo contests and to see our babies in print for a real calendar will be a real treat!
