My name is Spice. I am about 13 months old. I have lived with my mommy, Nancy, for about a year. Nancy happened to be at a bird show and saw me in a big cage and fell in love with me. She bought me and eventually I met my best buddy, Sugar, and we are cagemates.

One of my favorite things to do , when I'm not talking to Sugar, is to talk to my ferris wheel. I know it sounds silly but I love my ferris wheel. For some reason, I will chatter into it for hours. My mom says I look silly but I can't seem to stop. You guys should try it. It doesn't talk back.

I have a lot of problems with my sinuses and have been to the doctor several times. I have tried hard to be a good little patient for mommy. I am most proud of how hard I tried to cooperate when she gave me all that yucky medicine.I know that might not seem like a big accomplishment but for a little fellow like me it really was. It has paid off because I am feeling better.

Mommy gives me lots of good things to eat but my favorite thing is fresh parsley. I just bury my head in it and eat away.

I know that I am just a little budgie but I would be very proud to receive the honor of PC Birdie of the Year and it would make my nice mommy, Nancy, happy, too.

Hi! I'm Rio

I was born last year on April Fool's Day. My Parront found me on the internet. My baby photo just melted her and she had to have me. I arrived at my new home as soon as I was able & boy was I relieved to find out that another Budgie lives here.

My favourite thing to go is chew stuff. Thankfully a friend gave us a beautiful basket to chew. I guess my biggest accomplishment this year has been going into my cage at night. It seems to please my parronts. I will try almost all foods but my newest love are noodles.

yeesh, what the hay!

my name is ivy and i am a hyacinth macaw. i hatched 9 months ago on april 20th along with my brother and sister. one day in november, a lady brought me into her home and we became best friends! she says that birds like me usually wean at 9 months but i weaned at 7 so i know that must make me special

i think life is pretty neat, and i am happy to be here. i like to play with just about everything that my mom gives me, but when it comes to food, i mostly just want to eat mac nuts. i really like hanging upside down from the top of my cage saying "WHAT?" while my meals are being made. i don't preen yet, but somehow my feathers are always in perfect order.

let's play!

Well, my name is Winkie - if you call me BoWinkle I'll bite. I was born September 5, '06 and came to live with my Mom on December 12 of that year. This is my 2nd winter with Mom. She's good to me.
My most favorite thing in all the world to do is swing on my swings. I also like to chew on Mom's shirts - or anyone's for that matter!
Hmm, my biggest accomplishment last year... FLYING! I learned how to fly beautifully in September & early October. Then Mom wanted me to fly to her & instead I ended up outside in rain & wind. Fortunately I was able to land on the outside of Mommy's window & my best bud - Kyle - found me.
My favorite healthy food is broccoli, but my favorite food ever is millet.

Misunderstood and alone in a cage my mom found me. The store where I was never let me out. They didn't even know what kind of bird I was! MY MOM CAME TO VIST ME ALL THE TIME! Little did I know she was reading all she could about me. Before I knew it I had a real home, with someone who knew I needed special care.....and she knew what kind a bird I was.

My name is Tommaso. I came to live with my mommy when I was 8 weeks old. I will be 2 years old Feb. 1, 2008. My favorite thing is to be scritched. I get so relaxed, I almost put myself to sleep. I like to press my little puffy blue head against my mommy's hand to get extra scritches. I also enjoy flying. I pretty much get the run of the house, although my mommy worries and watches where I am all the time. Lastly, I enjoy looking at myself in the mirror while my mommy gets ready for work. I don't think I'm so bad looking. Things couldn't be sweeter at my home.

Names.. We have no names... We are speaking as a group here...Our mom has worked very hard spreading the Linnie word... She has our parents in her home for over 4 years now... And we heard that a friend of hers introduced Linnies to her... Knowing she was a good bird mom and treated her birds well, he suggested that she take a look at the Lineolated Parakeet. Well she did, and she fell head over heals for us. She thinks that the Lineolated Parakeet should win the bird of the year because they are becoming so popular. We love to play, climb, hide, hang upside down, and just hang out with our human friends. Oh yeah, and we like to eat... alot! A lot of birds have been bird of the year, but we are the new kids on the block.

We are cute, we're sweet, our temperament just can't be beat...

Default Another Entry

Hi all you bird lovers … my name is Pogo. I’m a Budgerigar, but you can just call me a “Budgie” for short.

When I was only about 3 months old, I was in a big glass enclosure with many other young Budgies at a place called “Petco”. It was OK there since I had a lot of Budgie buddies to play with, but my wings were clipped and I couldn’t fly very well. That was OK though, as I had plenty of food & water, toys to play with on the floor and branches to climb around on.

One day some people were looking at all of us, and I could tell they were carefully watching some of the other Budgies. I really was sick of being in that glass enclosure, so when they came up close and tapped on the glass, I quickly ran over to get their attention by trying to play with their fingers. I wasn’t afraid and thought it might be fun to see what these strange human creatures were all about. Before I knew it, a big net was chasing me around and I was quickly put in a little cardboard box with holes all over it. It was kind of scary, but deep down inside I felt things were going to be fine after I kept hearing a soothing voice talking to me.

About 45 minutes later the box slowly opened up, and I was put inside a much smaller cage than I was previously in. I was still scared, but when I saw the same human I wanted to checkout and play with at the pet store I felt better, and later found out his name was Scott. I soon came to realize that he was my true guardian, and every time I looked at Scott I knew he was going to take care of me and not let anything ever hurt me. It took me a few days to fully relax and start being myself again, but it was strange not having any other Budgies around. Scott would come over to my cage every hour or so to make sure I was OK, and would say things like “You’re a pretty bird” and “You’ll be OK little Budgie” to make me feel better.

From the very first day, he started spoiling me with all kinds of healthy seeds, pellets, fruits and vegetables … my favorite being millet of course. But what I really prefer to eat is his food when I get a chance. I fly into the kitchen every time he opens a cupboard or the refrigerator door in hopes to get a “human snack” such as corn, mashed potatoes, cheese, blackberry jam on toast or some freshly cooked spaghetti noodles … Yum!

After being with Scott for about 4 weeks, and hearing him talk to me all the time, I decided to start talking back. He was thrilled that I started talking so soon, and I could tell he was excited the first time he understood my speech. He taught me how to do the “Woody Woodpecker” whistle … boy, I sure like doing that one for some reason. I guess it’s because it always makes people smile and laugh. [ YouTube - Pogo - "Woody Woodpecker" Montage ]

Scott soon decided to get me all kinds of new toys, and I especially love playing with those cat ball toys with the little bell inside. I would play with those toy balls for hours at a time, and throw and chase them all over the living room floor like a little soccer player. I was sure hyper and full of energy back in my younger days … it felt so good to finally grow my clipped wings back and fly around, and run free and wild with dozens of toys surrounding me. When I was about 6 months old, Scott taught me how to put those toy balls in to a glass. He was so proud of my tricks that he made a video of me in action. [YouTube - Pogo - "Kung Fu Fighting" ]

I later came up with a trick of my own using my favorite toy ball. Since I taught Scott how to do this trick, I would have to remind him to “focus” once in a while in order to keep up with my hyper pace. Us Budgies talk and play fast most of the time. [YouTube - Pogo - Ball Poppin' ]

For my 1st birthday, Scott got me a brand new gigantic cage … I love my guardian for taking such good care of me! I have so much more room now, which helps me to get some exercise when he’s away. Shortly after getting my new cage, Scott started asking if I would like to have a new buddy come live with me since there was now plenty of room. Of course I bobbed my head fast as possible to indicate a big “Yes!” Then one day Scott decided it would be a good time to get another young Budgie, and he came home with “Ziggy”. I was so happy when I first met Ziggy … it felt like the missing piece of the “flock” had arrived. Ziggy has been here about 6 months now, and I’m not bored anymore during the day or lonely while sleeping at night. Scott and I have been teaching little Ziggy how to do tricks, whistle and talk like both of us, and he’s picking these things up very quickly. He’s a cool Budgie, and we all get along great.

I’m sure glad I picked Scott out when he came looking for a Budgie that day at that pet store!
