Default May Contest - Birds In-Flight

The theme of this month's contest is; Birds-In-Flight photos. Birds doing what they do best. If your birds don’t fly, feel free to enter a photo of them in a “big wings” pose.

We now invite you to submit your entries for this month's contest. For complete contest rules, please see this thread: 2008 ParrotChatter Photo Contest Info and Rules

Please remember: You may submit only 1 photo per bird. You may enter multiple birds.

Another reminder from the rules: Your submission picture must be accompanied with a short story about the bird or birds pictured, their name(s), and species.

The winner will have their photo featured on the May page of the 2009 ParrotChatter calendar. You will also receive a 2009 calendar as a prize. Also, your winning photo will be displayed on the Parrot Chatter main entry page for an entire month.

All submitted photos must be of high resolution and with a pixel size of at least 1600 x 1200.

The contest will remain open until this time next Wednesday - one full week. At that time a poll will be set up for voting!

Let's see those photos!!

I guess I'll start it out...

This is my 2 year old female CAG, Harrison. She came home with us when she was 3 months old. The breeder was sure she was male because of her head/eye size/shape but we found out differently about 18 months later when we did a DNA test. She was saying "hi birdies" and "hi bird" when we first brought her home and learned other words and phrases very quickly. I must admit that the first year or so with her, I thought "what have I done!!??"...it was a big adjustment getting her. After the first 10-12 months, we bonded in a way I never thought possible. I never ever thought I'd fall so in love with an animal. She just recently started flying again...it took two years for her wings to grow back after a vet butchered her when they clipped her. We won't be having her clipped again because she seems to love flying so much. Her favorite toy is the swing hanging from the ceiling with a ball hanging in the middle. Here's my entry of her flying...

Heather and Harrison...

I haven't taken any recent photos of my babies flying...I'm heading to Beloit this weekend so maybe I'll get some of the pidgies.

Could be wrong but I would think the pixel size requirement will be a problem for many here. My pictures are on photobucket and aren't near that size. It might be doable if I could find the originals on my old hard drive. Any suggestions?

This is an old one, but I love it

(even though I know folks get much more excited about the big guys in flight, so we are not really in the running)

James, usually the picture that is posted in the contest thread is smaller sized than what is needed for the calendar. If the Member's photo wins the contest I ask that they email me the bigger sized photo.

I can get by with a little smaller picture dimension than the 1600x1200 if it has real good clarity.

I also wanted to add; that if anyone has a smaller picture that you would like to enter and you're un-sure if the size is suitable, feel free to email it to me and I'll put it into the calendar program and let you know if it will be alright.

Thanks for the explanation Karen, I had no idea it was being done that way.
