Default Is this a seabird or a parrot?

Okay it only behaves like a seabird. This is a gorgeous little Rock Parrot that I filmed among the wind, rock, and waves in the far SouthWest corner of Aus. I learned later that they even nest underground sometimes in old seabird burrows, and choose to nest on offshore islands. I tried all one day in the wind and rain and found none to film. Then the next day the weather grew calmer and I found a group of these little parrots feeding in the grasses on the less windy side of the rock outcropping.

That is all part of the joy of my adventure - sharing with others. Nothing like the excitement of interacting with other parrot folks who are as revved up as I am about these beautiful birds. So far those that have purchased the DVD set that these stills were taken from have said that they definitely enjoy seeing almost all of Aussie parrots that live there flying wild and free.

Okay here are some more pics of this gorgeous little Rock parrot near Cape Leeuwin, in Western Australia.

I find it especially interesting that I was always concerned about my birds and them being too close to windows and dealing with drafts etc. Take a look at the normal conditions that the Rock parrots live in! It was so windy there I saw a teen laying back at a 45 deg angle into the wind and he was being held up!

It's a wonder he can keep his feathers on considering all that wind. If it is too windy, Ruby won't go outside. Guess he is used to it. Sure is a beauty!

    Hi Jessalyn:

Here is a clip just for Ruby from my filming adventure in Costa Rica a few years ago. I hope she likes it.

YouTube - ‪Wild Scarlet Macaws on the Osa Penninsula Costa Rica‬‏

The Scarlet Macaws I visited with and film in the wild on the Osa Penninsula in Costa Rica dealt with wind very well but... it was warm wind and it never got any colder than about 80 deg when I was there...

Thanks so much for that treat! Ruby just cocked her head and looked and looked.....brings tears to my eyes. I so wish my Ruby girl could fly free like that! ps They sure didn't welcome the third party! ha!
