Default Re: Picture of our Rosey Bourke parakeet

I only compared the budgies and suns since I have pets and aviary birds of both species. The aviary budgies live 10 in a colony and the pets go visit in the day and come back at night. Anybirdie waiting at the gate asking to come inside gets a lift inside. It is only Peewee and Sleepy that mostly want to come inside. If they perch for the night and don't wait at the gate they get to stay in the aviary. The pet suns love visiting the aviary daily - to do bird stuff, but start to panic when darkness is falling cos they need to come inside. Permanent aviary suns live in pairs not a colony, they would kill the neighbors. It is a walk in aviary divided into different cages. Why I say the colony budgies are tame is that they will jump on the food dish when it arrives to see what goodies they get. They are not starving since they have permanent seed to eat the just very enthusiastic to see fresh food. I have to be careful of toes when putting it in the holders. The breeding suns wait close by on the fence and don't usually jump on for a ride.

Oh those are just beautiful!!! I've seen the isabella, normal, and pink bourkes but not all those other colors! Thanks so much for sharing that. Sorry I haven't gotten new pics up of her yet, we've been busy but as soon as I get a chance I will post more pictures. Thanks again

I used to have an image of a Pied Bourkes but seem unable to find it.

Normal - is still a beautiful bird & what i fell in love with. [ Bourke's Parrots aka Bourke Parakeets, Bourke Grass Keets (Neopsephotus Bourkii) ]

Is your bird a Rosy or a Pink Bourkes? Probably a Rosa.

Pink [ Merga's Mates ]

Bourkes are beautiful - Mrs. Cheeps is gorgeous! Their faces remind me of Linnie faces.

Interesting questions and observations regarding the taming of smaller vs. larger birds..

Deb,

She is absolutely gorgeous! I hate to say it but she's prettier than my Red Rumps and I'm pretty biased with them. And she talks, that's awesome. One of mine chatters up a storm and the other, is learning.
