Compared to parrots such as Cockatoos or Macaws, they are quiet! But they do make some noise! Most species have two main sounds - a low purr, and a frog-like croak. There is one main exception to this and that is the Swainson's Toucan. This bird has a whistling yelp that some people find loud. Red Billed Toucans have a simliar loud call. Species such as Tocos, and Keel Bills, are very quiet. Some of the Aracaris have a "chipmunk" like chirp, and most people find this quite pleasant. Guyana Toucanets one drawback is they have a little cockatoo like yelp that some find annoying. Chestnut Eared Aracaris have a whistle that makes them louder than other Aracaris.

Summers Birds
Apartment friendly birds I would suppose (even though you'd have to dedicate the whole apartment to the bird as a flight)
Kathy, do you just feed them fruit along with a low iron soft-billed pellet?
Also, I just noticed the (curl crested) aracari you said you fell in love with and sold in less than a week, that is the one I fell in love with as well, and that was just with the descriptions and pictures I have seen (I would love to meet one in person!). What hookbill would you compare the little guy to, size wise? About how long was his beak?
What was the price tag on him (just to get an idea...hehehe)?
I get my actual license this october (I get my learners in July) and as soon as I do, I am driving up to new jersey to visit your store (your only about 2.5 hours away) to see all the exotic birds (including the too, that can do, tricks) and buy some stuff too. You guys better have a toucan in
