thanks...

she's finally starting to settle in. Every time I walk into the bird room she hops over to me and makes a sound like a raspberry and I bend down an look at her she sticks her beak through the bars an preens my hair or touches my face. She's a bit skittish of hands still.

She sounds darling. I'm glad she is warming up a little, no doubt she is well worth the time

Jeanne, is Ginsu a rescue or surrendered bird? Was wondering how you acquired him and if many tucans show up for rescue. When the days comes for us to build the big aviary, I would like to add one but only a rescue.

Ginsu was a rescue, the woman that had her couldn't handle her anymore and needed to find a home for her. We actually paid $300 for her which in my mind was well spent. I don't like to pay for birds that come in but occasionally an exception is made.

This is the second toucan I've seen, the first one we got for $500 and he was huge! He was also wild caught and we decided to donate him to the Pittsburgh Zoo.

I haven't seen any listed anywhere in awhile but I'll keep my eyes open.
