Thumbs down Would I be a perfect Linnie match?

I've been seriously thinking about seriously getting a Linnie.

The only breeder I know of is the BlueMoon Aviary in Dallas, GA. Last time I checked, no babies available. I first saw an article in BT mag about them and thought they would be an alternative to Budgies ( I used to bring home/tame/re-adopt out LOTS of budgies from my old pet store job... some of them were too young to even be for sale, IMVHO ).

I've only seen a breeding pair for sale in a bird show last year. Yellow and a Green bonded pair. No babies...

Anyway, I've only ever had Tiels, Budgies and Lovebirds. Would I be a good Linnie owner? I'm even looking into buying a long cage and slowly collect cage accessories when the bird show comes to Norcross later this month.

Are there any personal experiences or advice about these little guys I should know about? All I seem to find is the same information about them...

Denise, our Linnie forum coordinator, should be along shortly to fill you in. She raises some real beauties, by the way!

I can attest to that. I have three of her babies.

Probably... Since meeting a few linnies and their breeders, I've decided they're the perfect companion bird (curious, friendly, affectionate, not nippy, not chewers, very low volume) and it's a good thing my English budgies, lovebirds, sennies, and 'zon were here first!

The newly organized Lineolated Parakeet Society (LPS) Home of the Lineolated Parakeet and its affiliated yahoo message board lineolated_parakeet_society : Lineolated Parakeet Society are great sources of info and also offer access to breeders.

Thanks for the info links! I'll look them up.
So far only one state seems to have Linnies without limit... that's New Jersey.
I don't like the idea of having a baby shipped. ATL airport isn't my favorite place to be.

Hello, And welcome to the wonderful world of the Linnie!

Sorry I was so slow to reply... Saturday was my daughters graduation...
I am here now and ready to answer any questions you may have...
The Linnie group (LPS) is a wonderful place to find info about Linnies. I have been a member since it was organized, they are a great group of people.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words.... boy, I love this place!

LoveBird82, please explain what you mean by "without limit." Are you saying there are a lot of linnies for sale there? Thanks.

Yeah, All the Linnie's I've ever read about have been from New Jersey so far.
It seems like that state is the first one to have a lot of people who have/own/breed these little monkey birds.

When I do find a classified ad with them, it's always from NJ. :{
Weird, or am I just seeing the same person's ad? lol
