Default Moulting question

How long do your fids take to moult? Pepper and Silk have lost feathers from their heads, which have grown back in with the exception of a few pin feathers on Silk's face. Silk doesn't have any long tail feathers now, she lost the last one the other day so now is a real feather butt. The one I am most concerned about is Ollie. She just looks so ratty, patches all on top of her head, you can see the pin feathers there but it seems like she has been moulting for ages! Biscuit looks just as smooth and as pretty as ever.
Any suggestions? Ollie and Biscuit have just had their healthy bird checks before they were allowed to play with the others so I don't think Ollie is sick. How long do your Indian Ringnecks take to finish a moult and start looking all beautiful again?

Sometimes their first moult is the worst! No need to get way worked up...best thing to do is keep up with the vitamin rich foods and calicum...they have that ratty moult the first time and it gets easier after.

Prinny looked horrible during that one!

3 of my ringnecks moulted and got finished in less than a month, the fourth one still looks raggy with pins all over his head 6 weeks after he started. He is not very young 3 years+. All are healthy so I just think he is having a rough time of it. Quite strange to see a ringneck in less than immaculate condition, they always seem to have the most beautiful feathers.

Some ringies molt out faster than others. Mine seem to go through phases with heavy molts and then they have a heavy molt it may take a few months for them to really get back to the picture of perfection that they normally are.

It is funny how awful they look when they molt compared to how gorgeous they are.

Thanks guys, she has only been moulting for about 3 1/2 - 4 weeks. I was looking at her about half an hour ago and am relieved to say that she is looking so much better. Most of the pins have grown into proper feathers and her head is nearly completely flat and smooth. Her wings are still really bad (horrible clip) but I have started adding a multi vitamin and mineral supplement (thanks beaks) to their water so hopefully that will help. My fids get a huge variety of fresh foods as well as pellets so I am hopeful that I will soon be posting pretty Ollie feather shots

Aren't you glad we don't have to moult? I have enough trouble getting out of the house in the morning when I look gorgeous (choke gasp)

Oy that would suck if we had to moult. Poor things look so perfect and regal most of the year but when moulting happens they look terrible.

Prinny gets so touchy and 'lungey' during those times

Can't wait to see more pics of Ollie all feathered out!

I feel so awful for mine when they're molting, they don't like to have those feathers touched. My boys always have a bad patch on their heads.
