Default Male or female?

Hello all
A friend has, fairly recently, acquired a rescued blue IRN and while its history is sparse, she does know the bird is at least 7-8 years old. I have both a green IRN female, and an Alexandrine male so I am aware of the neck coloring for each of them. I am not however, familiar enough with the coloring on some of the other colors to help her find out if the bird is a female or male. My thoughts are that it is a female as it only has a slight darkening of her 'unibrow', but there really is no discernable neck ring. It appears the ring is a light gray/white color so I'm thinking it's probably a female?

If it were a male, would the neck ring on the blue be as dark as the green?
Thanks for your help!

I would be saying that the bird was in fact a hen, going by its age. Ringnecks reach sexual maturity around 3 years of age and females can reach sexual maturity around 2 years of age. So if they don't have their ring by three years old most likely they never will. Blue mutation ringnecks 'rings' are different to a normal green.
Here is a picture of a male blue ringneck

A big congratulations to your friend Sky, ringnecks are great birds and kudos for giving a rescue a home. Would love to see some photo's of her new fid, I love perving on ringies there so pretty.

Yes, it is a female otherwise the rings would have a deeper blue hue.
