Default Senegal coloring

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone tell me if the coloring on the senegal (specifically the yellow, orange, or red depending on the bird type) on the chest changes with age? Is the coloring lighter when they are babies and deeper when they are adult or vice versa or, does the color truly vary from bird to bird?

Thanks

it varies from bird to bird. Zoey's coloring is real close to the same now at 2+ years old as it was when she was 3 months old. Its brighter then it was.

Cory is also much brighter on the chest than she was as a baby and her "V" extended a lot. She also had a lot of yellow "freckles" on her head growing up that all seem to be disappearing now.

oh and the eyes!! I love the way they go from all black as babies to dark yellow as they get old.

Hi Everyone again,

I am a bit worried. I have been reading the senegals can be very aggressive, that their bite is pretty intense and some would rather be bitten by a macaw I've even heard some refer to the senegal as a pitbull with feathers!!!! Can anyone help to ease my fears or is this really the case? Are they more likely to bite if adopted at an older age and less likely purchased just after weaning)?

Thanks

the bite is a major pinch. Sharp tipped beak. They do tend to be one person birds and can act aggressively to other people.

Our daughter has a senne named Kiwi. Not sure of her age as she was a rehome but I can tell you that Mimi and I are the only ones who can handle her.She just loves me and I only see her every 4 to 6 weeks. I myself would have a household full of Senne's cause I just think they are really an awesome little bird. Kiwi is the only one I have ever handled so I can't say more that about others. I can tell you I would much rather be bitten by Kiwi than one of our Macaws Last night I mentioned possibly getting a senne and got the old hairy eyeball
