what do you feed your Poicephalus?
I was just thinking about this today. Zoey was here first and I fed her as I was told by the lady at the store told me. Fruity colored pellet blend and some chicken once in a while. Benji, same thing only no chicken. Then I got Sophie and the world of "bird food" went upside down and sideways!!

I've just down sized Zoey's dry food from ultimate blend PARADISE ULTIMATE BLEND - BIRD PARADISE BLENDS by Bird Paradise to Benji blend PARADISE SM. BIRD ULTIMATE BLEND (BENJI BLEND) - BIRD PARADISE BLENDS by Bird Paradise as it is smaller in physical size.

Poicephalus are not large hook bills. lol Would they be concidered small hookbills? I mean I go to the store there is food labeled for all my birds but not Zoey!! She seems to do well with what I feed her but she isn't as excited about eating as the other three are. So lets hear it!!

Jim, I don't have one, but my babies at the store get the BIG BIRD Ultimate Blend... but it's okay if Zoey wants to be dainty!

Jim, maybe if you moisten it a bit for her she might like it. You just cant let it sit for long if she doesnt take it.

she eats and will do about anything to please Papa ya know? She is a very dainty eater. With the ultimate blend she eats the pellets first, picking up one and holding it taking three or four bites the goes to get another. Its cute to watch. Anything she conciders too big she throws to the cage bottom and eats it later. lol

My guys are picky also. I decided to make my own blend with the things I know they eat. Ive come to the conclusion they HATE raisins, dates, and cranberries. Maybe they struck a deal with the wild birds in the yard who get the leftovers. And the rabbits love the raisins.

What do I feed her? OR what will she eat! When I took Cory for her initial exam, the bird lady gave me pellet samples for small birds and for large birds because she said in her experience individual Senegals are very particular about the size of the food they prefer and you have to experiment. Cory is on Zupreem fruit pellets with the red ones removed, the Avian Entrees Wild & Spicy mix and a small hookbill seed mix. What she prefers to eat is people food.
