Default What size cage?

I'm wondering what size and type of cage everyone has their quakers in? We're getting Skittles a new cage when our income tax money comes in. She's LONG overdue for a bigger/better one! The one she's in now is only a 22x22 (I know - way too small).

I did a quick search and came up with this:

Minimum cage size of 18" W x 22" L x 24" H. Another site said minimum of 18" square. Both of those seem pretty small, and the one you have now is bigger. I've never had a quaker so hopefully somebody that does can tell you what they recommend!

Thanks Camille. Yeah - I don't like to go with most "recommended" cage sizes - they never seem big enough. I know the "bigger is better" rule. I've been looking at 1 that is 26x20. I still worry about the size - but unfortunately - space is somewhat of an issue. (she is out of her cage a lot) The main problem with her current cage is it's so old - no matter what I clean it with or how often - white spots keep coming up on it. (it's a black powder coated cage.) It always makes it appear dirty - even hours after cleaning it. It drives me insane! At 1 point I was looking at double stack cages (the tiels and Skittles are in the same room). But I just don't know if those are really that great for birds to live in. Even the ones with pretty nice dimensions - I worry about the bird(s) on the bottom and how they would feel in that position. I'm sure I'll drive myself crazy the next few weeks looking at the cages and trying to make a decision by the time the check arrives! LOL

Just measured the dimensions of the brats cage. It's a dome one.
Internal dimensions are 26"w, 20"d and 37" high. They seem to have plenty of room in this with toys etc. and also spend quite a bit of time outside the cage.

Thanks Abby. We put Skittles inside of Cosmo's cage (also a 26x20) and though I'd still like it a little bigger - for the space we have - I think it will be okay. It certainly looks bigger than her current cage. Amazing what a difference a few inches make!

This isn't where Chaska usually lives, she lives in the bird room with the others but I guess you can call it her vacation home? 41" tall x 27" wide x 20" depth.

Nice cage! I'm excited to get Skittles a new one. The nicest thing will be cleaning it - leaving for an hour and coming back in and it still looking clean! I don't know what the white stuff is that keeps coming back on the black cage - but it just always makes it look like we haven't cleaned it for a few weeks!

That happens to Dakota's cage and it drives me NUTS! I'm sure its just because its a good 6-7 years old. This is why Ollie's next cage is going to be a SS because I can't stand that white coating and I'm sure hers will be doing the same thing in a few years down the road!

Steph - I don't have a quaker, but my Ringneck is in a 32 x 23 cage if that helps.
