Have they been DNA'd, Jeanne? Because if they are both male, most likely, they won't bond. Quakers have matriarchal societies and the males leave their nest and family to join the female's so they don't establish deep bonds with other males.

As to plucking Quakers, don't clip or cage him. It's what Quakers hate the most and what drives them to all aberrant behaviors (plucking, mutilating, screaming, biting). Other birds have other reasons why but, with Quakers, 99 out of 100 it's the deprivation of freedom that does it.

Noah has been a mutilator since he was 6 months old. He's gotten much better since he came here in January. He seems to only act up when I have to work late or go away, my hubby and pet sitter are here to give him attention but I guess it's not what he wants.

As long as they can co-exist in the same house (not cage) I have no problem if they don't care for each other. :-)

Both have different personalities and are fun to play with.

So sad when they mutilate... plucking is not so bad but mutilation is. And yes, of course he would do worse when you are away or come home late. They bond with people very easily and he misses you. I bet that if you were home all day long and he was free to fly to you whenever he wanted, he would stop.

Well Bea he'll have his with in 15 days :-)

My last day of work is 12/21, they've hired back as a consultant until March where I can make my own hours and work from home. In the mean time I applying for my 501c3 and starting my own pet sitting service. I spoke to my pet sitter and I'm her only client on my side of the bridge. She's helping me get everything setup and get bonded & insured.

2008 is definitely going to be a good year!

Congrats! I have always worried about you having so many birds and working full time... an impossible situation.

Jessalyn you have no idea how sweet he is...his favorite thing to do when you're having a bad day is to rub his beak all over your face while saying "awwwwwwwwwwwww"

An Bea - I've been planning on being a stay at home birdie Mom for awhile....I'm looking forward to it

All the best in the new year. Hope the transition goes smoothly.

Even tho our Budgies have me a lot of the time, when my husband started his contract in August, they really missed him & would fly to him right away & stay with him - the older one especially. They continue to get excited when he or my son come home but they have adapted.
