Default pacific parrotlets compatible?

Hi all,
I'm new here and I posted this question over in parrot chatter before I realized this forum dedicated to parrotlets was here.

Anyone had any experience putting Pacific Parrotlets with Borke Parakeets?

Also, my male (Buttons) continues to preen my female (Bubbles) to the point of her almost having a bald head. I have changed their toys (thought maybe they were bored), put in a preening ball and still he does it.

Any suggestions?

I answered in the other forum.
Parrotlets can be very aggresive....I would not put them in with another bird.

Thanks again Grandma, sorry, didn't mean to duplicate ... didn't realize there was a specialty group for parrotlets until after I had posted in parrot chatter.

I will definately heed your advice.

Baby parakeet won't be coming home for at least a month until he's been weened. So now I'll be on a mission for new cage ....

I'm also a big fan of the Bourke's. It was a Bourke's that got me back into my obsession for birds.

Keeping them separate is the best
- as was said in the other thread. The Bourke's Parakeet is noted for being a gentle bird.
As for the cage - I would recommend another flight cage or lots of flying time out of the cage. This is a bird that is often recommended housed in an aviary setting. They are not noted to be as pesky as Budgies or P'lets. They also are not big fans of bathing in water - coming from a more desert climate.
I have talked to some who have one as a pet & they seemed quite happy with it.

Here are some links to some Bourke's info:
HAMILTON & DISTRICT BUDGERIGAR SOCIETY INC.
Visual Wings - Bourke Parakeet
Bourke's Parrots aka Bourke Parakeets, Bourke Grass Keets (Neopsephotus Bourkii)

I look forward to the photos of both species. [Bourke's goes in the Grass Parakeet section]

Hi & Welcome!

I am looking forward to gentle. That will be great!.

My Bubbles (female p'let) is usually quite calm, timid and quiet. Buttons (male p'let) on the other hand is usually the "wild one". While both personalities have their advantages and disadvantages ... for example Buttons is much more outgoing and willing to "come out and play" and is more sociable. Bubbles is fun to play with quietly like while I'm reading or just sitting relaxing. I don't usually take them out together at the same time because Buttons gets Bubbles all pumped up and they chase each other around the house and I'm afraid one of them will get hurt. So I have found separate play times seems to work best.

It'll be fun to have a baby around.
