Oh the waiting must be so hard! But it will be worth it because you really do need the baby to be fully weaned (there can be a lot of problems if they are not weaned). Are you able to visit your baby at the breeders?

In the mean time you can get the cage ready with perches and TOY SHOPPING is soooo much fun. Browse through the P'let section here to read more about them and to get cage set up ideas and toy ideas - our p'lets here are very spoiled you'll see And don't be shy to ask anything - there is no stupid question as we were all in your shoes at one point.

Since you are from MI. I live in Ypsi and the bird is in New baltimore. Its an hour and 10 min drive. I am aloud to see my bird whenever but, it would be a bit of a drive. LOL So we will just wait I guess. So what pet store do you go to? Since we are in the same area it might help to know more places. (response to svolk)~Jenna

My house is closer to Toledo than Ann Arbor, so I generally go to pet stores in Toledo. My avian vet is in Toledo also - Dr. Susan Orosz - she is wonderful and well known in the field. I know there is an avian vet at the animal clinic on Ann Arbor-Saline Rd., and I knew of one person who went there, but I don't know much about them.

Waiting is hard. Hang in there.
You remind me of the 'few days' I waited to pick up Laker - it seemed an eternity. I had to wait till the weekend & drove in the holiday traffic on a very hot day with our air conditioner not working. [you'd think I could have found a Budgie a little closer but like you I feel for his looks & there was no other for me]

Do you have a small cage for travel/Vets? When I got him I carried him to the car in his cage. I put his cage in the front seat & used the seat belt. I opened the sun roof & took my time coming home. The first thing I noticed about him was that he was so interested in everything - he kept looking out the window & sang a lot. I talked to him the whole way home & played music as well.

Remember the first few days are pretty exciting for your bird too. Being really young he'll tire easily & may be a bit fearful from time to time. If you have a quiet spot for the cage, or drape it a bit, it will give him a safe spot to relax in.
